I’m a recent buyer of this fantastic plugin and have run into a couple of problems.
I have a few videos hosted with S3. When I use the FlowPlayer shortcode for unprotected video the video will not play, but it will play if I use the HTML5 player shortcode. Why is this?
The other issue is when I add the S3 shortcode for protected video the video will not play either. Seeing as thought the S3 shortcode is the only one that works for protected videos, I am stuck until this is sorted.
Can anyone help with these 2 problems?
October 25, 2011 at 11:48 am #37867FrictionMemberI just did a test on the Twenty Eleven theme and the s3 protected content now plays fine. I was previously using OptimizePress as my theme as many other people I know are using OptimizePress and Ultimate LightBox together just fine.
I also have Wishlist Member installed on my site if that makes any difference to troubleshooting.
October 25, 2011 at 11:56 am #37868FrictionMemberLOL it seems I am solving my own problem here, but help would still be appreciated.
I just de-activated Wishlist Member and the video plays fine. So it seems there is a conflict between the two plugins with the way I have it setup. It’s strange because a friend of mine uses OptimizePress along with WishList Member and streams protected videos from S3 just fine.
October 25, 2011 at 12:18 pm #37869wzpModeratorKeep at the detective work, and posting. Because of the numerous timezone we are spread out across, it may take up to 12 hours before “the right person” sees this
October 25, 2011 at 3:51 pm #37870FrictionMemberI decided to have my content un-protected for basic members as the content they download is all watermarked. The premium members on my site however are going to need protected links, so I need help with this situation.
October 26, 2011 at 12:08 am #37871wpCommerceModeratorOctober 26, 2011 at 8:27 am #37872DonnaMemberI also had a problem playing protected videos and played around with it for a while. In my case, it was because I had placed them in a subfolder in my S3 bucket. I took them out of the sub-folder and placed them directly in the root of the bucket and they played fine. Would still like to know how to use a subfolder so I can organize my files.

October 28, 2011 at 11:06 am #37874FrictionMemberSorry about not providing enough information.
I did have the videos playing fine uwing the HTML5 embedded code with unsecure files, but now today none of them will play. They just sit there loading, even when I try and download it directly. I even tried switching to Flowplayer today and that won’t even work.
Here’s the two pieces of code I used:

October 28, 2011 at 7:51 pm #37875DonnaMember@ Friction… Hi! I haven’t used the html5 mode but to help things along for you, I would rename the uploaded file exactly like this…
exclude-particular-pages-from-your-sites-search-results.mp4
Then use the code below for your player. See if that helps.
[wp_lightbox_html5_video link=”https://s3.amazonaws.com/20coolwordpresstipsdownload/exclude-particular-pages-from-your-sites-search-results.mp4″ width=”800″ height=”600″ source=”http://www.coolwordpresstips.com/wp-content/uploads/tip13.gif”%5D
I think the problem may be the dot following the 13 and the + signs you’re trying to use in your URL.
good luck,
Donna
October 29, 2011 at 12:23 am #37876wpCommerceModerator@Donna, Thanks for the tips.
@Friction, I can’t access the link you provided. I think only members can access it. Do you have any test membership account that I can use?You should always use hyphen(-) to name a file because it will be part of a URL. Please have a look at Google’s guidelines here –

However, I tried those shortcodes on my test site. They are working fine. So I think something else is causing the issue.
October 29, 2011 at 3:04 pm #37877FrictionMemberThanks Donna and wpCommerce.
I will try renaming the files and see if that helps.
I will report back with my findings tomorrow.
October 29, 2011 at 4:28 pm #37878FrictionMemberThe files play fine in HTML5 player for the moment, but still nothing when trying to use the S3 protected player with embedded image.
October 29, 2011 at 11:58 pm #37879wpCommerceModeratorPlease post a link to the page (which I will be able to view) and the exact shortcode you are using.
October 30, 2011 at 1:10 am #37880FrictionMemberShortcode:
[wp_lightbox_protected_s3_video name=”adding-a-sitemap-to-your-blog.mp4″ bucket=”20coolwordpresstipsdownload” width=”640″ height=”480″ source=”http://www.coolwordpresstips.com/wp-content/uploads/tip2.gif”%5D

I just discovered that when switching to the Twenty Eleven theme, the S3 protected shortcode works fine now, so for some reason there is an issue with the plugin and the OptimizePress theme.
