eStore – cannot download file after payment

I am testing the estore paypal process and i have made 3 diferent atempts and i cannot download the file.

In Manage products>>digital content details i have put the URL where the file is located. I have copy this URL in my browser and i can download the file.

In the ADDON SETTINGS the Automatic URL Conversion Preference is set to Default as well as the download method.

Then i make the payment, and eveything is ok. The only problem is that when i click the link i received in the email it brings me to the ERROR 404 Page not found.

I have made 3 atempts but the 3 failed

I have checked nearly all the checklists and i have a few comments:

-Checklist 4: .htpasswd is not there ( i bought your soft last week)

-Cheklist 5: I have not check that. But i do not understand a word about then, i am not a very tech person.

I have already made 10 payments but i always get the same 404 error.

Enable debug is checked, but i can only read the log:eStore_post_payment_debug.log and ipn_handle_debug.log. I cannot read the download_manager_debug.log. When i click i go to a blank page

I can also send you ( how?) a file that is a complete screenshot of my estore setting configuration

I do not see if it is a problem with my server or if it is a problem with your software.

I noticed that the download script URL looks wrong.

You currently have the follwoing which is wrong:

You appear to have “WPeStore” as the plugin directory name when it really should be “wp-cart-for-digital-products”

Can you please check the eStore settings and see what value you have in the “Download Validation Script Location” field.

It should have the following value:

http://cumplirlopd.es/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/

Also, in your wp-content/plugins directory; what directory names did WordPress use for eStore and eMembers? This may be a “matter” that @Admin needs to “verify”…

Another interesting thing which seems to confirm the initial suspicions that your “Download Validation Script Location” is wrong is that if I modify your file download URL to use the correct name for the eStore folder I can actually download the file.

For example – try the following link and you will find that you will be able to download the file:

@formulalopd, You had an illegal copy of the plugin (downloaded from some torrent site maybe) and that copy of the plugin is showing some weird behavior (this copy has been tampered by the hacker). Please read this article to understand this issue better:

You couldn’t got it work so you came and purchased the plugin from us but the damage has already been done.

Do the following:

1. Make sure that the other fake copy of the eStore plugin is completely gone from your server (if you have anything left from this fake copy then things will not work).

2. Install a fresh version of the plugin that you downloaded from us (tipsandtricks-hq.com)

3. Go to the “Admin Functions” menu of eStore and hit the “Reset eStore Settings to Default” button.

4. Go to the settings menu of eStore and complete the settings and save it.

Now, test it out.

Thanks for your help.

I have changed the download validation script, and now i can download the file.

I have also noticed that now i can read the download_manager_debug.log, that yesterday i could not read.

Via FTP I have seen that the directories names are:

-wp-cart-for-digital-products

-wp-eMember

-wp-affiliate-platform

I have also seen that in the wordpress dashboard, what i see is WP eStore, WP eMember, WP Affiliate. Is that correct?

You are right that i had installed a copy, but now i have bought the product from you.

How can i be sure that the other fake copy of the eStore plugin is completely gone from my server?

It is not very important because i am working in a test environement.

Upp to now i have tested esotre and emember and i am quite satisfied. I have to check the affiliate plugin

If i reset the ssettings to the default, would i lose the translations i hade made in the email settings?

Because you are in a test environment, and we have identified the initial “cause” of the problem as being an unauthorized/modified plugin, it is best to nuke the test environment and start over with the legitimate plugins.

The reason for this logic is simple; we don’t know, and don’t have the resources to find out, exactly what other modifications the hacker has made to the plugin. For starters, the MySQL database tables probably have different names, and it will be a constant source of problems going forward. You also do not know if customer payment information is being forwarded to the hacker.
