Currently the system shows the referrals and sales as seperate pages, I want to be able to put all that information together.
i.e. when a sale is made currently (sales/comm data page) the system shows the following fields:
Affiliate ID | Commission Amount | Sale Amount | Sale Date | Sale Time | Buyer Email | Item ID | Unique Transaction ID | Delete Entry
However I want to know where that sale came from (click through data) so I would like to add the following fields:
click through date | click through time | custom value | referral url
The reason for this is that surely an affiliate and site owner wants to know where a sale has come from so they can spend more budget developing that advertising channel?
December 9, 2012 at 12:34 am #52164adminKeymasterThe best way to attach a sale to clickthrough data is to use a “Custom value”. We call it a campaign. For an example: an affiliate can use the same affiliate ID to refer traffic from two different sites using two different campaign data. This will allow the affiliate to see which site’s referral converted more.
We have campaign tracking for click data already. The campaign tracking for sale depends on the eCommerce solution you are using. Are you using WP eStore plugin?
December 9, 2012 at 12:34 pm #52165toddleMemberI use custom values already to track say Google and Facebook traffic under one affiliate account, but the sales page doesnt tie up with the referral data, so I know I have made sales but have no idea how they found the site, so I can’t work out where to spend my advertising dollars
I am using the WP estore plugin yes…
So am I missing something?
December 11, 2012 at 2:17 am #52166adminKeymaster1) Please reload new copies of both the affiliate and the eStore plugin now:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/re-install-or-load-a-fresh-build-of-the-plugins
2) Go to your affiliate settings and make sure the “Enable Custom Field Tracking” field is checked.
3) Read this documentation so you know how to use this feature:
4) Do a test transaction with eStore and check the sales menu to verify the custom value tracking is working.
December 11, 2012 at 9:46 am #52167toddleMemberThanks admin.
Before I reinstall new copies of both plugins, I want to be exactly sure you understand my issue…
I already have “Enable custom field tracking”
I had already read that post you mention on how to do it and I am successfully seeing where my traffic is coming in from on the “click throughs” page, so this isn’t the problem.
I want the custom value to be in the table on the “sales” menu and in the documentation you posted above it only mentions that you will see this data on the “click throughs” menu.
So is this an install issue and my install is bad and should be showing the custom field on the sales screen or is it that the plugin doesn’t have that capability right now?
I hope the above is clearer as it feels like we have our wires crossed…
Thanks for all your help so far…
December 11, 2012 at 11:54 pm #52168adminKeymasterWe recently added the custom value/field tracking for sales processed via eStore. So if you download new copies of the plugin now and update them, you will see this new feature.
