Buy and subscribe at the same time?

Good afternoon

I wanted to create a product which has a first payment, and then a subscription for getting updates. Can I, in the same product page details, place a value for the price and then below a recurring payment on Recurring Billing?
What is the best practise?

A product can have a single purchase price, or be a subscription; but not both. I think, from your description, that for the initial price; you might be able to use a “trial period” price for a subscription, as described in Step 2:
