I’m using Aweber to deliver a paid 6 month subscription eCourse to my WP eMembers via PayPal. If a member wants cancel their subscription before they’ve completed the eCourse, do they need to unsubscribe from the Aweber list and the PayPal subscription service?
January 23, 2018 at 6:37 pm #77153wzpModeratorBecause there is a “security concern” with the Aweber API; cancelling an eMember subscription will not cause eMember to unsubscribe members from lists:

January 24, 2018 at 1:53 pm #77154siteseerMemberYes… I read that post before contacting you. So, does that mean I should provide two unsubscribe links in my email- One link to unsubscribe from eMember (PayPal payments) & the other to unsubscribe from Aweber?

I’m not really a big fan of giving someone more than one link or button to click, in order to turn something off; especially if the first click is to turn off the payments and the second is to turn off the material they’re supposed to be paying for, LOL.
So, assuming that your material is compelling enough for someone to NOT cancel on you; is the number of expected cancellations per 100 subscribers “small enough” for you, to simply have them fill out a manual cancellation request form? That way, you’d make sure the job gets done right the first time.
January 25, 2018 at 7:34 pm #77156siteseerMemberIt is small enough right now.
Aweber places a permanent unsubscribe link at the end of each email that goes out and sends notification whenever someone unsubscribes from my list. I guess I could have them fill out a manual cancellation request form, or… I could manually cancel their subscription Paypal payments after I receive an unsubscribe notification from Aweber.
If I do either of these, would the subscriber still be able to login to their member homepage on my site?

It “depends” on what you would like to happen: Once a PayPal subscription is cancelled; do you WANT them to:
- Immediately cease having access to the site?
- Continue having access until the end of the (already paid for) subscription period?
- Contine having access, but at a more “restricted” level?
January 25, 2018 at 9:58 pm #77158siteseerMember#3. Continue having access, but at a more “restricted” level.
I checked the box next to “Allow Expired Account login” under the sub-heading “Account Upgrade and Renewal Settings” in WP eMember General Settings Menu. Next to this box it states…
“When checked members whose account has expired will be able to log into the system but won’t be able to view any protected content. This will allow them to easily renew their account by making another payment.”
Assuming this is correct… Will I receive an automated email notification from eMember if someone cancels their paid membership level?
January 26, 2018 at 12:33 am #77159adminKeymasterIf the member cancels the paypal subscription, the plugin will limit their account. Also, you will get a notification email from PayPal.
January 26, 2018 at 9:08 pm #77160siteseerMemberOkay. You’ve both been very helpful. Thanks!
- Immediately cease having access to the site?
