Last month a member asked to unsubscribe and we deleted him from eMember but this month he got billed again. Do we have to delete him from eStore as well under Edit/Manage members? Anything else we need to do to ensure that he doesn’t get billed again. Thanks.

Then you can ask him to cancel his recurring payments from his PayPal account or you can do that from your PayPal account. eMember also has a shortcode that lets you create a PayPal subscription cancellation button. If you place that on a page then your member will be able to do it themselves.

February 9, 2014 at 3:35 pm #46297mbaseSpectatorThis is a little similar to a problem I have. Suppose a member subscribes to a Basic membership (recurring payment), then later upgrades to a Premium membership (also a recurring payment). How is it possible to automate canceling the first basic recurring subscription payment, and then subscribing the member on a premium recurring payment.
I understand that PayPal does not allow recurring payments to be modified, so therefore I want to know how eStore can cancel a recurring payment first. Or is there is some work-a-round that does not involve the member or me manually adjusting the payments?
With a large number of members, and multiple membership levels with different prices, manually managing this would be a nightmare, not to mention not taking advantage of what computers are good at.
Thanks.
February 9, 2014 at 7:37 pm #46298wzpModeratorDue to the way PayPal works, only the member can cancel any existing recurring payments, by logging into their PayPal account. You can assist them, by reminding them to cancel the previous subscription, and then by providing them with a cancellation link using the [wp_eMember_cancel_subscription_link] shortcode.

If you are using the Payment Gateway Bundle, you must manually perform the cancellations. There may (in the future) be an option for automagically doing this:
