I build a membership-site, an Alumni portal for my former school of photography in France. (and sorry for my strange english writing) I use for sure both eMember with eStore because of the coupons.
First, my mandatory fact is : every subscription is january to january even the alumni subscribe during the year q 1,2,3 or 4 ! apparently it’s more easy for the accounting stuff….
Case A – Now let’s say an alumni had already paid by cheque his fees for the current year to the non profit association. and I would like to add him as an emember member to access the protected content of the portal site.
I cannot set a subscription button for him because there is no coupon-code possible (I did not found the trick ), So for, I set a product in eStore, made a special page I called Activation containing the possibility to add a product in the cart, then use the coupon code to reduce the price. The alumni choose his level [there is 2 prices according if is junior $20 (just released from the school) or senior $ 42] and then insert a coupon-code I made for him to reduce the basket amount to zero! Then I checkout on Paypal or manually, send mails and drive him through registration pages receive all the mails, and finish his registration and he has now an account in eMember system.
I would like to offer 2 alternatives for each level.
– to pay the alumni fees once a year from beginning of january but the possibility to join the alumni association and have to renew it manually after 1st january the next year with an automatic mail form the estore/eMember saying it’s time to renew. this option may permit at the same price to subscribe during any month of the year but stops the subscription like the other ones at dec 31 of the current year.
How do I have to set emember level and ester product ?
level : i think “Expire After a Fixed Date” which is 2015-01-01 for the 2014 year.
But when he will renew his product, how do I have to do ? Changing the date the last day of the current year or setting a new level ? I’m lost….
— My question is how to configure a product that stop this special subscription at the end of the year ?
Do my junior member as a contributor level Subscription Duration has to be set at the date 2015-01-01 [Expire After a Fixed Date]?
So, on January, I have 2 solution :
Build a new membership level :
A : Junior-Member-1year, Default WordPress Role Contributor, Subscription Duration 365 days or 1 year,
B : Junior-Member-ok, Default WordPress Role Contributor, Subscription Duration 365 days or 1 year [ Expire After an Interval ],
And what to do as a recurring pavement using a subscription option that stop at the end of the year and not after 365 days or 12 months ??
Please I need some help.
Yours
Chris

You could probably try something like the following:
1) Create a new membership level for 2014. The expiry date will set to 2015-01-01 [Expire After a Fixed Date] for this level.
2) Now, create a payment button that lets a visitor pay for this level. The visitor can pay anything during this year and he will be granted access to the corresponding level.
3) Looks like you have some users will pay and some users who will get access for free (via a discount coupon). So enable the manual checkout option in the eStore plugin. and also enable the “Redirect to Manual Checkout For Zero Amount Purchase” option.
Users who are going to use the 100% discount, will be sent to the manual checkout form. You have 3 different ways to handle the manual checkout submissions (use the one that fits your needs):
4) For next year, you can create a new level for 2015 which expires on 2016-01-01. Basically, do step 1 and 2 for every year.
5) You can enable the “Enable Auto Expiry Email Notification” option in eMember’s settings. Then configure the emails in the “email settings” tab. Put a link to the new year’s payment page (where you have the payment buttons for the new years membership).
April 30, 2014 at 3:24 pm #62613ChrisFromParisMemberOk genial and thanks, as I understood, so I will have to create every year a new membership level for every next year ? is that right? level ID =2 active memberAuthor-2014 with subscription valide for 2015-01-01, then add a product in ecart product ID = 1 ; name annual fees for 2014 active member ; price $42 ; Reference Text = 2 (is level ID) and no recuring payment.
At the end of the year, How do the member have to subscribe for the next year (I assume I have to set 15 days ar a month of transition period )
– so, do I’ll have to create a new membership level named i say active memberAuthor-2015 and do as you wrote do step 1 and 2 for every year. But in that case I have to entirely re-program each level setting for every event, directory, post and job adds on all the website because on year 2014, the active member 2015 does not exist ?

April 30, 2014 at 3:33 pm #62614ChrisFromParisMemberCan I make a clone of all the access settings form one level to another ? for the alumni to get access to all the content they had when they where active member 2014 in 2015 ?
After 4 years, as I have an damin access level member , an Author level member and a junior access member restricted to read thhe contant but not edit it, I think I will have 12 differnet levels to check on each post to manage access ??

May 1, 2014 at 3:15 am #62615adminKeymasterIf you have a large number of posts then you could use category protection to protect them. Using category protection means you only have a few categories to protect which will be quick in terms of configuration/setup.
You don’t have to re-program each level setting. You can activate the multiple membership level feature in the plugin. Then in 2015 the members that renew/re-purchase will get both the 2014 and 2015 levels in their profile (allowing them access to 2014 content plus the new 2015 content)
May 1, 2014 at 2:59 pm #62616ChrisFromParisMemberThat’s a good Idea Thanks.
thanks for the tip.
