Perfect – you are a legend!
adam_paxtonMemberHi,
Thanks for highlighting the risks – I will try to avoid this in future.
When I complete the username and include spaces I don’t get the JavaScript invalid popup message appearing which is great. However, when I submit the form I get a message saying ‘Only Letter, Number, Underscore, Comma and Space allowed’ which is what I changed the message to be in the eng language file.
Is there a separate line of code that I need to edit which checks validity on form submission? Looks like the error validation code is being triggered as a server response which makes me think it’s PHP rather than JavaScript.
Hope you can help!
adam_paxtonMemberExcellent,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post – really appreciate it.
However, the site I have developed is for a client and part of their requirement is that usernames can take a space. It was working previously so I can only assume it was a plugin update that has caused the issue of the enforced characters.
I understand what you are saying regarding it being both common and good practise but for my requirements I need to disable the validation. Is it possible and if so could you tell me how please?
Many thanks
adam_paxtonMemberHi,
I understand what you are suggesting but I can’t work out how I would implement it – can you break it down a little more for me please?
I sent up the normal subscription page (£50 + VAT per month) and make other variations of the subscription page but at different prices to match my discount codes (i.e 20% discount would be £40 + VAT per month, etc).
But I don’t really understand how I would implement the password protected page to redirect them to the correct registration page?
I assume the user would access the registration page – have a button to register there and then at full price but there also be a link that says ‘click here if you have a discount code’ and then will take you to a password protected area depending on the code you enter?
Sorry – I just can’t get my head around it. I would really appreciate it if you could explain in a little more detail for me.
Thanks for your patience and help with this.
adam_paxtonMemberAhhh that’s a bit disappointing but as you say I’ll just set the membership price to be £180 (3 x £50 + VAT) and tell subscribers the price is inclusive of VAT.
However, this doesn’t get me around my 3rd point on my list – I really need to be able to provide discount functionality to a subscriber membership!
The website supports new startups with legal information and I need to be able to provide discount codes t allow small startups to get 50% off, companies from certain sectors 30% off, etc.
How would I go about providing a discount code in combination with a membership subscription?
Many thanks for the help
May 7, 2011 at 4:14 pm in reply to: How to customize various text/messages displayed by the plugin #21167adam_paxtonMemberI’m part way there,
I can drop span and div tags in the lang file but if I wanted to do something more dramatic, for instance spread the registration form across two columns rather than just a single column, which file would I edit to add a div wrapping around the fields I want in column 1 and another for column 2?
Regards
May 7, 2011 at 4:01 pm in reply to: How to customize various text/messages displayed by the plugin #21166adam_paxtonMemberSorry if this is the wrong place to post but I’m hoping to edit the code to give me a little more flexibility for styling the login and register forms.
I’m not looking to do anything dramatic just add a few div’s and spans in around certain inputs, labels, text, etc to allow me to change the aesthetic layout a little.
Can someone tell me which file I need to start working in?
Many thanks
adam_paxtonMemberHi,
Yeah that’s perfect and did the job.
Simply because the support is so good and I’m lazy – I’ve set it up so the administrator gets an email when a new user registers. Which file can I edit to customise the administrator emial message to say ‘A new member called has registered – please login and make their status active’
Thank
adam_paxtonMemberHi. Excellent plugin but I’m also after the same functionality chodhry asked for. I can understand the rationale for your decision not to create this feature. However, your plugin is so powerful there is probably a few of us using it for different means where admin approval is required.
I’m using it for an companies internal document library and the admin needs to approve the registration applications. Your plugin is idea apart from the lack of support for this feature.
Is there a way around this or a way to force the user registration to be ‘inactive’ by default?
Many thanks
