Regarding the following note posted by Google/YouTube on the showinfo parameter …
Note: This parameter is deprecated and will be ignored after September 25, 2018.
Will the lightbox plugin shortcode “showinfo=0” still disable the share icon in YouTube videos, if so I will upload it, if not do you anticipate a fix to address the deprecated parameter?
I have embedded unlisted YouTube videos for which I do not want the url shared. Would Vimeo be a better choice than YouTube to keep the embedded videos from being shared?
Hi, The parameter no longer works since it has been deprecated. Switching to Vimeo may not solve this issue because it also has a “Share” option.
I stumbled across embedprivatevideo.com and tried their website demo that played my private YouTube video on their website. They sell a wordpress plugin that does this, the pricing is in euros. Can you comment on their wordpress plugin?
@kheaps — In addition to buying the plugin, did you notice there is also a monthly fee, that is billed annually?
I did notice the annual fee. The advanced plugin would have suited my start up needs at a cost of about $44.50 with mthly fee of $5.72…so first year cost of about $113…with free upgrades for only a year.
I’m also researching Amazon S3. If I understand the pricing correctly the standard storage charge of $0.023 /GB/mth would cost me $5-$6 /mth for 200 GB with plenty of bandwidth for viewing videos, I’m assuming bandwidth usage is included with the storage – still learning about S3. To embed the videos in wordpress it appears I also need the S3flowshield plugin at a cost of $97. This makes both plugins with fees price comparable, but S3 has a lot more to offer. I have the S3 account established on the free tier for the first year. I’m going to purchase the S3flowshield plugin next.
@kheaps, We have an integration with Amazon S3:
