A weird phenomenon occurred in our store over the past week (10-1 through 10-7). Any customer ordering more than one product between those dates was charged the price of the first product they added to their cart for every successive product. So, for example, one guy ordered 5 items. The first one had a listed price of $9.95, the other 4 items had a variety of lower prices, but PayPal charged him $9.95 for all 5 items. This happened four times on four different orders between those dates. The prices of the products in the eStore database haven’t changed, but the order records show the customer having paid the higher price.

However, I only noticed this issue today, and now when I try to replicate the problem with a test order, it’s no longer happening. Also, PayPal appears to have made some changes to the checkout look and feel. So I am hoping this was a problem with PayPal that they’ve since fixed, not with the eStore plugin. I’m going to keep an eye on it, though, and I’ll post here if it happens again.

That is a little weird. When you log into your PayPal account what do you see in terms of the money your received? Does it reflect the correct amount of the wrong amount?

Excellent question. I will check on that and get back to you.

In the meantime, though, the problem appears to have happened again this week (just once, because only one person ordered more than one product at different prices). Here are the lines from the Manage Customers table for that order:

    389 Doug Mayo-Wells email removed for privacy 383 0A5893338Y317383D 2010-10-09 0.99 — Edit / Details

    388 Doug Mayo-Wells email removed for privacy 382 0A5893338Y317383D 2010-10-09 0.99 — Edit / Details

    387 Doug Mayo-Wells email removed for privacy 384 0A5893338Y317383D 2010-10-09 0.99 — Edit / Details

    386 Doug Mayo-Wells email removed for privacy 376 0A5893338Y317383D 2010-10-09 0.99 — Edit / Details

Products 382, 383 and 384 are all correctly priced at $0.99, but product 376 ought to be $4.99, not $0.99. So something is still going wrong.

Ok, I just verified this with another test order. PayPal charged me correctly. The ipn_handle_debug log also shows the correct prices for both this new order and the one I mentioned above.

So (I think) it’s only the database eStore_sales_tbl, the Manage Customers page and the Stats page that show the wrong prices.

That’s good. Probably the sales stats table is recording something incorrectly. Please get a fresh eStore build from here and give it a go:

Let me know if you still see the issue after the update.

It looks like the upgrade fixed it. Thank you!
