Running Newest WordPress 5.1, with all plugins up to date.. eMember Version v9.1.4

    —

    Hello,

I do not understand why on the page containing the [wp_eMember_login] shortcode, users are suddenly not able to log in.

This is the page in question, with the eMember Login: iaddm.com/members/members-only-area/

However, I tested it, and with the same login data that is not recognized, it is possible to log in via /wp-admin/

I have also had an issue with newly added users, not sure if this is due to the same problem or cause..

Hopefully you can help. Thank you very much.

    Best regards,

    IADDM

Do you see the member record when you go to the “Members” menu of WP eMember plugin? How are the users being registered? From the registration page that the emember plugin creates?

    Thank you for your response.

Yes, most users register themselves via iaddm.com/membership/application-form/ , but also added a few in the last weeks.

I can see the Members in the back-end, but it looks like the ones added by wp_admin / eMember (via Member Bulk Import) do not have wp_user account.

However, there seems to be various problem case varieties in both categories.. also with some accounts that were created via form.

    Sorry, more specifically also;

One (“older”) user was set to expired. I tried to set him back to active, but it would switch back.

I tried to make him active again and change his password so he can log in but I was not able to log in with the new password via the login page, only via /wp-admin/ .. on the login page it told me wrong username / password..

Thank you for any pointers on what this could be..

The following page should help you with manual extension of membership (re-activate from expired to active status):

    https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/manually-activating-expired-members-account-1953

If you have some emember users who do not have WP user accounts, please use the following feature:

WP eMember -> Admin Functions -> Create WP account for eMember users

That should create corresponding wp users for those accounts. Since you are using the WP user integration, make sure to read the following documentation:

    https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/using-emember-with-another-plugin-that-uses-the-wordpress-user-roles-350

Manually set the user password from the admin interface of the plugin for a member. Do a login test after that.

Thank you for this tip, but unfortunately the problem persists, that users can not log in via the shortcode on the Login page, but only via wp-admin; On the Login page, it says “Wrong username or password.” even though the Login works on wp-admin.

I will log into your site and take a look. I have sent you an email.

Looks like that member’s account “expired”. So that user couldn’t log in as a member. I have sent more details in the email.

I am having this same problem. WP eMember is set to create a WordPress user. If I login through the shortcode, edit profile just says need to login. If I login through WordPress, user can access edit profile page and make changes. It will update any password change from there to both eMember and WordPress. But when I logout, if I login again from edit profile shortcode page it will not login the member.

I did create a new edit-profile page with shortcode and new login page with shortcode. Member is active.

Well, I turned off all integration with WordPress users — that seems to resolve the issue and I don’t “need” them to be WordPress users.
