At the moment, I’m unable to login to my admin account so I’m trying to give as much info as I can from memory.
I’m testing the registration process and I’ve inadvertently used the same email address as my admin user. The settings is to create WP user when new member registers as I would like to use forum as well. So it appears that the ‘new’ WP user has overwritten my admin user. There was no warning or error – the registration process was very smooth. The login and password to my admin user is still the same but I’m no longer admin.
How do I solve this? Please help!
If you are adept at using phpMyAdmin, you can shoehorn administrator capabilities onto any WP user:

The following post should be helpful also:
Thanks for the feedback on how to get back my administrator privilege; that wasn’t a problem. I know that there will be very few instances where the email of an administrator or some other existing WP user will be used to register for membership. However, it is still possible and if that happens, the new member would definitely prefer to keep their original WP role. Is there a way to have a warning when this happens and not just overwrite the WP user?
If you are using the WP User integration option then you should enable the following option in eMember settings:
Preserve WordPress User Role
Thanks, that’s handy now. I didn’t foresee this before so didn’t check that option.
