My client is using the manual payment gateway. Although the email to the purchaser populates with the field values from the order, the message displayed on the thank you page does not – it displays the {field name} and not the field value.
email contents:
Dear chris smith <— {first_name} {last_name} populated
Thank you for your purchase!
Product Name: i2
Quantity: 1
Price(USD): $25
Product Name: trump-reference-2
Quantity: 1
Price(USD): $14
Total:$49.34

How can I get the page to populate with the values?
This happens only for the manual checkout? The PayPal checkout works fine?

Sounds like you’ve pasted those tags inside the manual payment gateway settings – specifically in the “payment instructions” setting.
Those tags are currently not supported on the thank you page.
The way the plugin works currently is that the payment instructions settings are also displayed on the thank you page in addition to being sent via email.
Those settings are only for payment instructions. There is another email which is sent when the purchase has been completed after payment.
So I suggest that for now you delete those tags from the “payment instructions” settings.
We will in a future version add an extra settings text box where people can specify the wording they want to display on the thank you page after a manual payment.
