Tagged: photos, preparing images, tif files
Hi,
I’m trying to figure out how to prepare my images for uploading into a gallery. Is there some documentation for that? For example, what file types are acceptable – tif? jpeg? psd? eps? pdf? What modes can be used — grayscale? RGB? What resolution or file size would be optimal? Should I optimize the images prior to uploading?
Thank you.
Karen
Hi Karen,
The files acceptable are jpg and png.
What resolution or file size would be optimal? Should I optimize the images prior to uploading?
Keep in mind that photo processing is resource intensive and it all depends on your individual server how much it can handle. For example, some server setups such as cheap shared hosting plans might not be able to handle the demands of some the photo processing tasks needed by the plugin such as watermarking, image resizing and other tasks the plugin needs to do.
For example I have a test server which is a VPS hosting environment and it can handle images which are 11M in size and 300dpi but conversely there are some clients on a $4/mth shared server whose servers are not able to handle images of such size.
Try some tests for yourself to see what your server can and cannot handle.
