Hi there,
I have a site with WordPress 3.4.1, LightBox Ultimate 1.7.1 on it that’s having serious issues with IE 7 and IE8 (both on Windoze XP). IE9 on Windows 7 seems to work just fine.
I have the following “active plugins” on the site: iMember360 3.4.004, Weaver II Pro 1.1.3, 404 Notifier 1.2a, AddThis Social Bookmarking Widget 2.4.1, Fast Secure Contact Form 3.1.5.4, Google Analytics for WordPress 4.2.4, PressBackup 1.4.5, SeedProd Coming Soon Pro 2.6.2, Ultimate TinyMCE 2.6.1 and Weaver II Theme Extras 1.0.
Whenever I run in IE7 or IE8, the page loads (says DONE in the lower left corner of the window), then hangs for about 10 seconds. During this “hang”, no scrolling, input or mouse clicks on menus are allowed. About 10 seconds later, all the “queued inputs” start to operate so if I scrolled down, then up, then down, they all happen rapidly in succession.
If I have a WP Lightbox short code on the page, the image for the lightbox doesn’t appear until the end of that “hang”.
Pages without short codes hang too.
If I deactivate WP Lightbox Ultimate, pages load instantly. Reactivating it results in the 10 second delay again.
If you want to see this, use IE8 to navigate to the home page at http://www.socialmarketingnoise.com/letmein
Any idea what’s up?
Thanks in advance,
Steve
June 30, 2012 at 6:29 am #46710wpCommerceModeratorHi, what libraries do you have enabled in the settings?
August 8, 2012 at 4:27 pm #46711sparkerMemberWow. This one slipped by as I worked on the site, and I completely forgot about it. Until now…
The problem manifests itself in IE7 and IE8. IE9 seems to work “OK” (for IE…. )
The WP Lightbox libraries I have enabled are:
– PrettyPhoto (required by HTML Overlay)
– Fancybox
– WP Lightbox Special
– Flowplayer
– HTML5
– HTML Overlay Related Settings
And by the way, you no longer need the “letmein” URL for the page. The site is now live.
If worse comes to worse, I’ll install an IE7/IE8 blocker that forces the users to upgrade, but I really don’t want to have to do this if I can avoid it.
Thanks!
Steve
August 9, 2012 at 1:09 am #46712wpCommerceModeratorYou can uncheck some of the libraries if you are not using shortcodes related to them. That will reduce the number JavaScript files being included when the page loads. Although I’m not sure if it will greatly improve the performance on IE8 and IE7 (because they are usually very slow and unresponsive).
