I had a huge black Friday sale and customers are emailing me left and right to inform me that they did not get their product delivered via email after paypal checkout. I asked my hosting provider for insight and he provided me with this information:
Hi Amy –
Do you know if this works for some users or if it does not work for anyone? I’m attaching a file here that shows the emails sent from our system that match [amyb@homeschoolencouragement.com]. It looks to me like there may not have been any confirmations sent out? I’m wondering if you’ve run any test orders to confirm that you do get the emails at your own address.
If this is correct that the emails aren’t being sent at all, despite your WP install obviously being able to send emails (it looks like [amyb@bowofbronze.com] is receiving sale notifications), my guess would be there is a problem with the plugin. You might consider contacting the WP-Estore developers to see if they have had issues with emails being sent out.
One thing I noticed is that in the /home/homescho/public_html/error_log file I see this series of errors repeatedly, starting on November 26th:
[02-Dec-2014 19:56:02 UTC] PHP Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cookie – headers already sent in /home/homescho/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-affiliate-platform/wp_affiliate_platform1.php on line 8
[02-Dec-2014 19:56:02 UTC] PHP Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cache limiter – headers already sent in /home/homescho/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-affiliate-platform/wp_affiliate_platform1.php on line 8

I don’t know if that is related to the problem you’re having, but if the 26th matches the date of something that was installed/modified, it would be worth looking at that. The issue here is that PHP is trying to start a session but the headers were already sent, which could be a conflict but could also indicate a problem with a file.
December 3, 2014 at 1:44 am #67166wpCommerceModeratorHi, Did you have the debug option enabled in the eStore settings?
The log file contains information as to whether a sale was processed or email was sent to a customer.
Since you received the notification email I believe it was sent to the customer as well (but please confirm before you move on to the next step). In that case you might want to go through this checklist: https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/not-receiving-emails-even-though-the-plugin-sent-the-email
December 3, 2014 at 4:55 pm #67167tikvah73MemberNO emails were sent to any customers. I have a .png screenshot from my host showing all outgoing emails originating from wp-estore for those three days and the only emails that were sent are those that went to me (sales confirmations) For whatever reason I am the only one getting any emails from my wp-estore.
I did not have debug enabled until after the sale ended.
I have had one customer since then complain that she did not get the link for a squeeze form download.
December 3, 2014 at 6:58 pm #67168tikvah73MemberThis is the debug file from today: (there were no purchases today, just squeeze form downloads.) I do not know if this is helpful because my main issue seems to be with all of the purchases that were made over the weekend.
[removed debug after checking]
December 3, 2014 at 11:31 pm #67169adminKeymasterPlease do a test purchase so I can check log file and see what is failing with the transaction. Also post a link to your product page so I can inspect a few things.
Does the email for the squeeze form submission work?
December 4, 2014 at 12:54 am #67170tikvah73MemberYes, the email for the squeeze form submission works 90-95% of the time, and when it fails I suspect it is user error not checking spam or junk folder on their computer.

December 4, 2014 at 12:57 am #67172tikvah73MemberQuestion. Could this issue be the fact that my paypal IPN settings are set to notify my other website URL for completed transactions?
I noticed today that their is only one slot for a notification URL for IPN, and that is currently set to my membership site at another URL. The membership site was just added this summer and I have not been pushing any products other than squeeze form until this past weekend for Black Friday.
Maybe that is the issue?

The eStore plugin overrides whatever value you have set in your PayPal profile, for the URL:
The following video shows you how to enable PayPal IPN (it will be helpful if you don’t know that already):

December 4, 2014 at 2:57 am #67174adminKeymasterI went to your products page to check a few things but I only see the shortcode. Is the plugin inactive?
December 4, 2014 at 3:40 am #67175tikvah73MemberI was completing the upgrade to the new version. It is finished now.
December 4, 2014 at 3:42 am #67176tikvah73MemberAnd since I already have the IPN set up correctly and it overrides the URL then that is not the issue. Something else is stopping the emails from being sent.
December 4, 2014 at 4:09 am #67177adminKeymasterokay I can add an item to the cart, now where do I have to go to do the checkout? Which page has the shopping cart shortcode that will let me see the items I added to the cart?
