Update: The following comment is outdated as PayPal have now changed this. Auto redirect is required to enable PDT feature in PayPal.
When “Auto Redirect” is turned on PayPal does not post the data needed by the eStore to display the links on the “Post Payment/Thank You Page”. PayPal only sends this information when the “Return to Merchant button or link is clicked. Remember the eStore will never display or send out the links if the sale can not be fully verified.
September 20, 2010 at 9:29 pm #16565MagusMemberSorry folks – I’m sure it’s difficult to solve all the issues what with all the different server configurations and the like, but I came here in search of an answer to my own issue with the IPN seemingly not functioning. I see the Thanks page I created but no download links. Only the short code. So while I’m waiting for helpful forum replies I’m poking around.
So here’s the deal. On page one I see the following advice:
If you want to display the product downloads on a “Thank You” page explained here:
WP eStore – Instant Digital Product Delivery on A Thank You Page
Then you need to make sure you have enabled PDT in your PayPal profile. This means you will have to change the value of the following two items from the “Website Payment Preferences” settings:
Auto return: On
Payment Data Transfer: On
Now I’m taking that to advise that “On” is the way to do it, no?
So the last comment is from Ivy and advises:
When “Auto Redirect” is turned on PayPal does not post the data needed by the eStore to display the links on the “Post Payment/Thank You Page”. PayPal only sends this information when the “Return to Merchant button or link is clicked. Remember the eStore will never display or send out the links if the sale can not be fully verified.
This seems to contradict with the earlier advice.
Obviously I’m very confused
September 21, 2010 at 1:49 am #16566IvyMemberHi, We just added the PDT method about 5 days ago, as PayPal’s new enhanced checkout is no longer sending back the data that is needed for the eStore to display the links on the “Thank you page”. Before the PDT method you had to have Auto Redirect turned off.
When using the PDT it requires you to have “Auto Return” on.
The comments above only apply if you are not using PDT.
You can read more about the PayPal enhanced checkout issue here:

September 21, 2010 at 5:16 am #16567MagusMemberHi Ivy
From what I can tell after reading the information at the link you provided PayPal is somewhat in a state of flux? Sometimes the buyer sees the enhanced checkout and sometimes they see the former checkout?
Is this the only support option? Post in the forums and hope a kind fellow user replies?
I’m kind of at my wits end with trying to make this eStore thing work. I kind of feel like I’m getting nowhere and just spinning my wheels and wondering if it will ever work.
Cheers… Rick
September 21, 2010 at 5:19 am #16568amin007ParticipantThis is why we added PDT to eStore so it doesn’t matter if your customer gets the enhanced checkout or the classic checkout.. it will work for both version the exact same way.
This forum is always replied to by a moderator (there is not hoping here).
If the plugin is not working on your server then that is a completely different issue. I have sent you an email.
June 14, 2011 at 10:30 am #16569SusnosMemberHi I’m new here, trying to figure out how to get all things with PayPal done. I have just configure my paypal settings like explained, and have the PDT on and also the Auto Redirect on. Now I’m at this IPN in my PayPal, and there I have to type in a notification URL. In the post here in the beginning it says that I can type any URL, the eStore writes it over. So I can just type in my home page then? Sorry to ask but I do not quite get how this works.
June 15, 2011 at 12:56 am #16570amin007ParticipantYes, you can type in your home page URL. WP eStore will override that URL at transaction time. This gives you the flexibility to use the same PayPal account to do transaction from multiple different websites.
May 10, 2012 at 5:50 am #16571toddwhiteMemberI’ve tried several ways to get my affiliate sale to show up. Click through count is working but sales are not showing. I’ve set IPN for Paypal as stated in forum.
I’m using WP e-store with Paypal.
WP Affiliate Platform Settings v 5.1.4
WP Ecommerce Version 3.8.8
May 10, 2012 at 6:36 am #16572adminKeymasterThere is no record of you ever buying the eStore plugin from us. I have sent you an email so we can rectify this.
June 9, 2012 at 8:10 pm #16573RodgeMemberHi there!
I have a PayPal (or eStore) language setting question. I use the eStore in our langauge Swedish, all works fine, but when my customers checkout and end up at PayPal they get an english version of their site. In the PayPal accound settings we have set it to Swedish, and we get Swedish in our admin panel, but not to our customers.
So my question is if there is any setting I’m missing in the plugin so that when it calls for Paypal it can also inform the PayPal system of what language to pre-set the page to?
Cause now there is several steps for the customer. Up in the right corner there is no selectabel Swedish until they first select Pay by Credicard as guest, then set country to Sweden, after that the page reloads and we get Language Swedish selectable in top corner, then the page looks the way we’d like it to be in the first place
Or is there a setting at the PayPal account I’ve missed, like a “language for customer end”..?
Thanks in advance!
Rodge
June 10, 2012 at 1:48 am #16574IvyMemberThe following forum post will explain more about using different languages with PayPal and forcing it to redirect to a certain language.
How to send buyers to english URL version of paypal checkout page?
Note the URL say English version but this applies to all supported languages by PayPal.
