Tagged: WP eMember
Hey, I have a membership website [http://www.the-optimal-you.com] and I do not want the category pages to be visible to not logged in members. Is there any way around this other than setting the protection under the “site wide/domain level page protection settings”? The reason I do not want to go through this route is because when members are not logged in click on these category links, they are directed to a blank page. I know that they can be redirected (as that is what I have set up now) but is there a way of showing a similar display message as protected pages – for instance – “you need to be logged in to view this content, login here”.
Thanks in advance for your help!
eMember doesn’t actually protect a URL (unless you are using that sitewide/domain level protection) option. eMember protects the content that you have inside a URL. For example, the content of a post or page or comment etc. So when you protect a category, the plugin will protect all the posts content that belongs to that category. If you want to protect A URL by itself then the only option is to use that sitewide protection option on those URLs.
Your users shouldn’t see a blank screen when they go to a URL that is being protected under the sitewide protection feature. This indicates that there is a setup mistake somewhere or there is another issue on your site. can you share a URL that shows this blank page so I can check it? Have you entered a value in the “Auto Redirect to a Specific Page” field under the sitewide protection feature?
