Hi all,
I have eMember integrated with WP eStore and that part is working beautifully. Now I just need to work out why eMember doesn’t automatically set up the customer. I have to log into WP to give them a username and password. I thought this was done by the software.
If anyone has an idea, fire away because I’m all ears!!
November 22, 2009 at 11:22 am #16209amin007ParticipantIt should be setup automatically.. once someone makes a payment for a membership the eStore plugin will create the membership account and send an email which will contain a unique link to complete the registration (choose username and password). Did you hook up the payment button created in eStore for a particular membership level that is explained in this post?
December 25, 2009 at 11:42 pm #16210KateMemberI’m actually having a similar issue. In my case, the member is created, however there was no e-mail address set in the DB. Therefore, I never received a conformation e-mail with the registration link. I went into subscription_handle_debug.log and copy/pasted the URL for now. Obviously I need to figure out what the issue is, though. Any idea what it could be? (The member is created with the correct membership type, btw.)
Edit: In addition, I just realized that, though I have the option set to create a WP user also, it only does this for the “free” membership level. Paid users do not have a matching WP account created.
December 26, 2009 at 1:13 am #16211amin007ParticipantThe corresponding WordPress user is created when the “membership registration” is completed by following the unique link that is emailed out to the member.
We need to address why the email is not getting sent out. Did you save the settings under the “Email Settings” option?
December 26, 2009 at 5:25 am #16212KateMemberI just had the default settings for “Email Settings”. I realized I didn’t have the from e-mail address set. Even though I didn’t think that would make a difference, I set it and registered a new paid user. Still no dice. The user is created with the correct membership level in the eMember table, but there’s no e-mail set for it, and there’s no matching WP user created.
I’m not sure if it helps, but the subscription_handle_debug.log says: “SUCCESS:Member signup completion email successfully sent”.
December 26, 2009 at 6:39 am #16213amin007ParticipantDo you have the “Use WordPress Mailing System” checkbox checked in the settings menu of the eStore plugin?
December 26, 2009 at 1:51 pm #16214KateMemberYes, I do. As well as the “send e-mail to buyers”. Again, most of the other fields seem to be getting populated, just not the e-mail field. (Only when registering a free user.) Free members don’t receive an e-mail either, but I’m not entirely sure they’re supposed to.
This is the process I’m following: Click the buy membership button. Proceed to PayPal checkout. Make purchase. Return to site. But, there’s no e-mail to confirm registration.
(Thanks for your help, btw!
December 26, 2009 at 2:07 pm #16215amin007ParticipantI understand… this usually happens for one of the following two reasons:
1) the email is getting blocked by your server or
2) going to the spam folder.
We just need to confirm that one of the above two is not happening then we can see what the real issue is.
Are you getting the product sale notification from the eStore?
December 26, 2009 at 9:15 pm #16216KateMemberI was just coming to post back about this! First of all, yes, I am getting the notification of sale e-mail. Second, I checked my catch-all inbox on my server, and it had all of the e-mails waiting. Each one had a “relaying not permitted” message. Even so, it looks like only the last one I tried yesterday had an encrypted link. Not sure what the difference was between that and the others.??? (I did add the from field and hit update options. Not sure if that would do it or not.) Anyhow, I tried registering again, and the e-mail is being sent, but it’s getting caught by my server. Also, when I copy and paste the link from the e-mail and complete the registration that way, the matching WP user still isn’t created.
December 29, 2009 at 12:01 am #16217KateMemberHey! Any ideas why the members aren’t being created? I have a bit of a deadline to get this thing wrapped up, so I’d appreciate any help you can give.
Thanks!

January 26, 2010 at 5:20 am #16219scott_loveMemberI think I have it wired up correctly to work with paypal. i received the email from paypal, i checked the email for the reg request at a test email acct but (and here is my issue/question) the “reg_link” substitution isn’t a link. it looks like it is missing the site info and maybe some other parts of the uri. here it is:

January 26, 2010 at 5:30 am #16220IvyMemberHi Scott, Looks like you haven’t specified the member registration page URL in the settings menu of the eMember plugin.
