I have a question and a problem.
Q: is wp cart for digital products the same plugin as wp estore? because I could only download wp cart for digital products and its confusing?
Problem: I tried to install the plugin into wordpress and it came up with an error
“failed to write file to disk” could not install the zip file
how do I get around this?
thanksApril 18, 2012 at 7:43 am #44199adminKeymaster
Please watch all the video tutorials from our documentation page and you won’t be confused anymore (start with the installation one):April 18, 2012 at 8:00 am #44200
I tried uploading via ftp using filezilla but I had many errors “Critical file transfer error”. would there be something wrong with the files that I downloaded. I did unzip the file and then upload the directory wp-cart-digital-products . I tried it twice with same error result??
I would attach a screen shot but it seems I cannot on this forum?
the ftp reason for failure is “could not start transfer”April 18, 2012 at 10:57 am #44201PeterMember
As an alternative, please try uploading the zip file from the wordpress administration panel in the “Add New” section of the plugins menu.April 19, 2012 at 12:17 am #44202
Thanks Peter, but have already tried that. doesn’t seem to want to be installed???? could there be a problem with the zip file itself or its content?April 19, 2012 at 2:41 am #44203
tried installing again…. this is the error via wordpress admin
“Unpacking the package…
Installing the plugin…
Could not create directory. /home/gkn39298/public_html/avaniamoretours.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/lib/lib_images
Plugin install failed.”April 19, 2012 at 3:02 am #44204
Ok, I went back to ftp and uploaded, there were many upload failures so then I uploaded the failed files separated. the plugin is now active. however I notices that the file sizes sometimes were less once they were uploaded. Is this normal?April 19, 2012 at 8:25 am #44205
Could this have anything to do with my hosting? as I’m having same problem with another plugin?April 19, 2012 at 12:54 pm #44206PeterMember
Yeah sounds like a dodgy host. I never seen these kind of errors when uploading plugin files.
Which provider are you with?
We can’t do much to help you if you have a host which creates limitations on your wordpress installation.April 19, 2012 at 3:17 pm #44207wzpModerator
When using FTP, did you use the binary transfer mode?April 19, 2012 at 11:27 pm #44208
thanks, I did get in touch with the host. my disk space is max 1000mb but my website is only 60mb. not sure what is the problem but it does sound like its the hosting.
what is the binary mode?
