We have a product on our website that every time it is purchased we want to donate money to a specific non profit. I have set up the non profit as an affiliate, but was is the best way for the affiliate to get rewarded for each sale of that product? Is the only way a banner, or can I use a specific link? I am try to minimize the click throughs the purchaser has to make. Is there a way that if the purchaser has gone to “purchase here” link that the wp affiliate can track that?

Just use revenue sharing… when you setup revenue sharing the customer does not have to come via any affiliation (the affiliate plugin is just being used to automatically keep track of how much money you will have to pay at the end of month):
