I am looking to add a logo/icon right beside the header text, however, I don’t see where I can do that. Do I have to do this within the style.css file? If so, how exactly do I do that? Please advise when someone has a free moment. Thanks!
It will probably be easier for you to use the 2nd or the 3rd option explained in the following documentation:

That way the logo and stuff will come from your standard website header.
