We have the affiliate platform setup and it running really well so far. But we are running into a small problem.
Some members who are in the MLM industry are changing the who referred name to their own sometimes.
As a result people are being sent to a non-existing account and then signing up. We found at least 10 people who have made that same mistake.
The system allows us to go in and make the changes, but the person who refer the link to others is suddenly getting sign-ups on that non existing affiliate link. After fixing the url we notice people are not getting credited for the first commissions because of the mistake.
Is there a way to correct this so that after we change the url, we can also get the commission for that first order to be redirected to the correct affiliate link?
Thank you
December 3, 2012 at 2:05 am #51956adminKeymasterAffiliate ID’s cannot be changed once you create it. This is how all affiliate software works. For example, if you went to amazon and signed up for their affiliate program they won’t allow you to change the affiliate ID.
You can always delete an affiliate user record and create a new one if there is a mistake that needs to be corrected.
With that said, what do you actually mean by “changing the who referred name”? Are you saying they are changing their affiliate ID?
December 4, 2012 at 9:17 am #51957VF2FMemberYes, they are changing the who referred name and as a result the system is automatically creating an account for the new name. So signups are being added to the system under that referred name but because the referrer doesn’t exist at the time there is no monetary assignment for the commission. We can go in and change the referrer but that first commission now needs to be issued manually. I wanted to know if there is a way in the commission payout filed to change the referrer nme from the mistake to the correct.
Thank you

Find the record with the wrong affiliate ID, delete them, manually insert new commission with the correct affiliate ID. There is an option to manually award commission in the sales menu interface of the plugin.
