When using a satellite domain for the product and PDT for the sales method on a sales funnel that has an optin in front of a sales page… do I add both the squeeze page to the Affiliate Ads area (for tracking reasons) even though affiliates should not be linking to the internal sales page?

March 16, 2012 at 1:09 am #43043kimjcastleberryMemberYou lost me on that reply. Now I’m confused. Hrrrm.
If this:
Traffic -> Squeeze Page -> Opts in -> Sales Page -> Final destination page
If I only add mydomain.com/salespage to the affiliate platform, then affiliates can only route traffic there directly I would have mydomain.com/salespage?affid
I need affiliates to be able to route traffic to the squeeze page but get traffic for the sales on the sales page mydomain.com/squeezepage so mydomain.com/squeezepage?affid
So it appears I need to add the squeeze page link to the “Ads” section.
However, it also appears that I need to add the sales page to the “Ads” (or somehow else as a product??) or else when Paypal returns from that sales page via PDT there will be no reference to that page in the affiliate platform.
Am I thinking about this wrong?

March 16, 2012 at 4:53 am #43044adminKeymasterAs long as the visitor came to one of the following pages using an affiliate link it will work fine:
– Your squeeze page (where you have the main affiliate plugin running)
– Your sales page (where you have the satellite affiliate plugin running)
It doesn’t matter what you have in the ads section. The ads are for your affiliates to use to make their life easier. Once a visitor comes to your site using an affiliate link and makes a purchase the affiliate will get the credit (whether you have a corresponding ad or not doesn’t matter).
March 16, 2012 at 9:36 am #43045kimjcastleberryMemberI have both my squeeze page and my sales page for this particular project both running on the satellite site. Does that change the answer?
Except for things where I might need the eStore (still confused on that, but that’s for another thread) I don’t intend to publish most of the products OR reports on the affiliate.just-ask-kim.com site which hosts the main plugin.
March 16, 2012 at 10:56 pm #43046adminKeymasterYeah that is fine too. It doesn’t change the answer.
