I have eMember set to integrate with WP, however on registration it didn’t assign a role. We want members to start off as a contributor, and then once we review their posts we will manually change to author. The role wasn’t assigned as anything.
Thanks for any help.
While creating a membership level you need to set a “Default WordPress Role” for whoever will be signing up for this membership. Did you do that?
Do you mean in WordPress or in eMember?
The default Role for WordPress is subscriber.
In eMember
Default WordPress Role Contributor
it did work when I changed the default role to Contributor in WordPress, however I would rather that still be Subscriber.
I’m talking about setting the “Default WordPress Role” in eMember.
So you have the default role for this membership level set to “Contributor” in eMember?
Yes, should it work if the WordPress default is set to Subscriber and the eMember wordpress role set to Contributor?
I ended up setting them both to Contributor, however I can perceive installations where I wouldn’t want this.
If the role is set to “Contributor” in eMember and a user is registering for an account using the eMember’s registration form then the role should be set to “Contributor”. What version of eMember are you using?
Sorry, had to stop working on these sites, and get to a few other things. The version is 5.7.3.
This is has started happening again. I’m almost positive it was working for a while, but it’s only almost as we are adding members manually and through purchases. I know when I’m adding them manually it assigns the correct role, however when they follow through the registration process it’s assigns None to the WP role.
I have tested this on the latest eMember build and I know it works. A few questions for you:
1. Have you done any role modification using a custom role manager type plugin?
2. Is this is for free members or for paid members or both doesn’t work?
3. Please try getting a fresh build of eMember from here and try that too:
