Tagged: tax breakdown, VAT ID
I have to charge 20% tax.
This is working fine on my site and it also forwards the correct tax amount to Paypal.
My problem is after the sale. on eShop I can’t see anywhere on the system the tax breakdown (ie. $2 tax on a $10 sale).
The only way I managed to see this is by installing the “Order Management” plugin. I don’t sell physical goods so it is not ideal to have to go there everytime.
Please advise.
Also, under “Price Paid” in the “Manage Customers” section it only shows $10, not $12 which is the total paid by customer ($10 + 20% = $12). How can I fix this?
The tax is charged on a transaction level (for the whole transaction). The manage customers list does not show the records on a per transaction basis which is why this information is not there. The order management addon handles checkouts on a per transaction level so that addon shows details on a transaction level.
Whats the purpose of viewing the tax amount on the manage customer screen?
Thanks for explaining.
Most importantly, at the moment on my “manage customer” screen it only shows the order amount excluding tax which means that if I try to match those records with what I actually made they do not match.
My accountant needs this information for auditing purposes and so we can tally up the online sales and bank account balance.
I hope this makes sense. Thanks!
Okay the manage customer menu won’t help with that. For accounting purpose, use the details from your PayPal account. PayPal lets you export all your sales data for this reason. This exported data will have details laid out that are helpful from an accounting point of view.
The other option is to use eStore’s stats data that you can see from the stats menu or use the data from the order management addon (this data is shown on a per transaction basis).
I understand.
Can you please just confirm if the amount shown on the eStore’s stats includes tax?
Thanks!
No, the product prices shown in the stat does not include tax.
