When using multi level membership levels how will estore update emember levels?

I am just trying to look ahead at 1 thing I don’t understand yet.

I have a free membership level and then 3 levels of paid membership at my site and I am using your wp estore and wp emember.

If someone has a free membership and then decides to purchase level 1 for example.

When they return to the site after payment how will their membership level be upgraded?

If they had to sign up again at the new level it would tell them their email address is already in use.

They don’t need to sign up again if they are already registered for a free membership. All they need to do is just make a payment for a paid membership while logged in. Their membership level will be upgraded automatically.

how does the estore payment processing know which level membership to upgrade the member to?

When I set up my estore products which are all subscriptions btw, I didn’t see anywhere where I would specify what that payment will do for the customer, so how will it know what membership level to upgrade the member to?
