When nothing is added to cart, nothing appears

I have the shortcode [show_wp_shopping_cart] for the Simple Paypal plugin on my shopping cart page. When nothing is added to the cart, nothing appears here. That’s fine. But I thought that some text should appear here, as per the text I specified in the settings. In the settings, there’s a field for “Text to show when Cart empty.” But it’s not appearing. Any ideas? You can use the following shortcode that will always display the cart (even if it’s empty).

[always_show_wp_shopping_cart]
