Hi,
How do I make the affiliate ID’s work without my website giving a 404 error?
Thanks in advance,
Theo
February 25, 2011 at 9:49 pm #29502TheoSpectatorhere is an example link that happens with any new affiliate link – http://electrofx.com/efx-training/?ap_id=admin

http://electrofx.com/efx-training/
Have you even entered the above URL in the browser and verified that the URL is actually correct?
February 26, 2011 at 8:01 am #29504TheoSpectatordamn it.. another stupid question … and I was hoping that I had it all right and would actually not waste your time
I changed the url of that page the other day and forgot.
I changed it back now and everything works fine.
If I ever did want to change the URL is it possible?
for example:
I have this page – http://electrofx.com/efx-training/
and want to change it to – http://electrofx.com/efx-access/
but in my wp affiliate settings I have been using the efx-training one as the Default Landing Page:
Do I need to stick with that since I already have over 20 affiliates signed up? or will all of the affiliate links update if I change the Default Landing Page in wp affiliate settings?
Sorry to bother you with such menial things

October 29, 2011 at 6:50 pm #29506prairiedawnMemberdefault links will update, but old links they’re already using. Will they work? that’s the question.
I’ve just changed the default landing page for aff’s. I realize that if they log in, get their new aff url, it will work. I’m being proactive and sending them all an update by email explaining that the url has changed so they can update any links they have already used.
my question though is, will the old links work?
I’ll preface this by saying that the old link landing page is still there and has not been changed. IT’s the actual “buy” page, but I’ve changed the way the aff’s customers are presented with the purchasing decision. I’m now sending them to a pre-sell page, where they learn about the product first, THEN, click the link to buy and go to a second page (the original default landing page).
all I want to know is, if the aff does not update the links, or the links were distributed out, through various ways, will the old aff link still drop a cookie and capture a sale for them.
I’m pretty sure it will, but I’m asking.
just want to know if I should set up a 301 redirection or not
October 29, 2011 at 11:01 pm #29507adminKeymasterYes, the old links will still drop the cookie and tracking will work fine as long as you haven’t deleted those pages.
