Tagged: renew membership in advance
I don’t want to use WooCommerce Subscription plugin yet, but I want to sell subscriptions. Unfortuantely the WP eMember created Paypal Subscription buttons (together with WooCommerce Paypal Standard option) is not working on my site.
Stripe would be good, but Stripe Subscription is not integrated into WP eMember yet, only Buy now.
So as a bypass I give up automatic recurring payment, and my customers will re-subscribe manually every month, as soon as they lose their access.
However the emails are sent befor with the warning, that her membership will soon expire, and it can happen, that she will go to the WooCommerce product page where she bought the membership in the first place and makes a payment for the next month.
The question is: will be the next month added to the current membership interval (i.e. AFTER the current expiry date), or the current remaining time will be overridden with a new start date earlier to expiration, i.e. she will lose some days because she made the payment in advance?
Update: the paypal Standard problem is solved by Paypal Support, the setting for “Block unencrypted buttons” should be set to Off, not On. I did it, and the Paypal Subscription button is working beautifully!
The other half of the question remains: how the membership is handled, if I don’t use the automatic recurring payment?
Thanks
Sandor

“AFTER.”
The expiration date is extended by the correct amount of time.
