What if someone is already a member of a Mailchimp list purchases from eStore?

I am trying to make sure that I have this buttoned up prior to launching my eStore.

For the most part I have found everything I need to get the store set up and tested, but the one thing I can’t seem to find the answer for is what happens when someone who is already a member of my MailChimp list purchases a product?

Does MailChimp automatically realize that email address exists as a member of the list? Or will the user get added a second time and then start receiving duplicate emails.

If it is for the same list then it will ignore the signup (everything else work as usual). It won’t get added a second time if the user is already on the list.
