page with problems [http://mediaimageproductions.com/videos]
The 1st 6 rows of 4 videos use the WP Lightbox Ultimate plugin
The 7th & 8th rows are using the free Video Lightbox plugin
Example of Ultimate short code:
[wp_lightbox_prettyPhoto_video link="http://vimeo.com/114796745" width="700" height="349" source="http://mediaimageproductions.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Website_Cutis_HP_TN.jpg"]
When trying to view on FireFox 60.0.1 on Mac Pro OS 10.11.6 & Windows Pro 7 SP1 (laptop)
the Lightbox Ulitmate window opens up, but most of the time the video doesn’t play, just audio with a black screen.
Every now and then a video will play. But when I close, try another video, and go back to the one that played, it most of of the time will not play (just audio and black).
Totally intermittent. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern of when they work and when they won’t.
I also tried it on several computers at my local library, and the same thing happened. (they are also running FireFox (not sure what versions)
I am using WordPress version 4.9.6 WP Lightbox Ultimate Version 2.2.9
When using CHROME (Version 66.0.3) on the MAC Pro and CHROME (Version 67.0.3) on the windows laptop, the videos work (however, they don’t “autoplay”, I have to click again to get them to play)
When using Safari 9.1.2 on the Mac Pro the videos work, and they also autoplay
I saw this link when I searched the forum, (to check my shortcode)
However, I don’t see the “WP Lightbox Ultimate shortcut inserter” anywhere on my page. I am using PageBuilder by Site Origin.

* Firefox 60.0.1 (64-bit)
* Windows 10 Pro, Version 1803, Build 17134.48
I randomly played 15 seconds from the first 12 videos, and had no difficulties.
June 5, 2018 at 3:24 pm #77948DAFsrMIPIMemberI went to the library this morning. On one computer, the videos all played.
On the next computer about half of the videos played, the other have was just audio and black screen.
On my laptop this morning, 8 out of the first 24 movies played, the rest were just audio and black screen.
On my MAC Pro, 11 of 24 played properly.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
I’m thinking I might have to stop using the WP Lightbox plugin, if I can’t be sure everyone can play the videos.

The one common denominator here, is “the library.” We don’t know where this library is, or what country you are in; but it is quite possible “the library” administrators have some kind of bandwidth limiting or content filtering installed. Can you try this at a Starbucks or McDonald’s instead???
June 6, 2018 at 5:53 am #77950wpCommerceModerator@DAFsrMIPI, I haven’t had any issue playing your videos either. Can you please deactivate video lightbox and only keep Lightbox ultimate active on your site? This will ensure that they don’t conflict with each other.
June 12, 2018 at 1:55 pm #77951DAFsrMIPIMemberSorry, I’ve been busy with another project, so I haven’t been able to check this forum.
The library is in Fairhaven MA, in the U.S.
However, the plugin plays BETTER at the library then it does here in my office on my windows laptop and Mac Pro desktop. I just went and tried it on several different computers at the library, because I figured someone would say, “it works on my computer, have you tried it on any others, rather than your own.”
I’m concerned if this is happening on my 2 computers, it is happening on other people’s computers as well. Except, I might never find out. Especially if it is a potential customer looking at my site to watch the videos, then they can’t see them, so they click off and I never hear from them.
I will take the free version off as suggested. However, I was having problems with the free version for months. I just bought the PRO version, because I thought it might not happen with paid version.
Thanks for everyone’s responses.
It is greatly appreciated.
I hope we can get to the bottom of what is happening.
Thanks again.

Besides the (relatively) tiny “Contact” link on your site, you could also place a (large) prominent/floating “Feedback/Help” widget on your pages.
June 12, 2018 at 3:43 pm #77953DAFsrMIPIMemberGood suggestion.
I’ll have to look into how to do that. Although, that type of thing might lead someone to believe that someone is there to help (like a chat). Unfortunately, because of scheduling, I am not that available. So, that might be another thing to “turn off” people. Not sure which one is worse, videos not playing, or someone not quickly responding to the help button.
June 12, 2018 at 3:44 pm #77954DAFsrMIPIMemberI’ve just removed the free WP lightbox plugin as suggested. It took a hour to do, because I use hidden pages to provide videos for clients. So, I had several hundred videos to change the short code for.
I just tested it on my Mac twice. 5 minutes a part.
The first time 23 of the 36 videos played properly (13 just black and audio)
The second time 26 of the 36 videos played properly.
June 12, 2018 at 3:50 pm #77955wzpModeratorThe fact that you are getting different results tells me there is only “so much” you can do before chalking the results up to environmental conditions. And since net neutrality in the US officially ended yesterday; you may start seeing results swing all over the spectrum.
June 12, 2018 at 4:07 pm #77956DAFsrMIPIMemberSo I should remove the Lightbox Ultimate plugin and just use embedded videos?
Won’t look as nice, but they have played 100% of the time I’ve used them.
June 12, 2018 at 4:50 pm #77957wzpModeratorPlugins have “no memory” of whether or not they work from one video playback to another. The plugin either works or doesn’t work, 100% of the time. There is no “sometimes.” To believe otherwise, follows the “Gambler’s fallacy.”
The reasons for any observed failures lie outside your site. You already reported result differences between your office and the library. If you want to understand the issue better, you need a larger location sample.

June 12, 2018 at 5:32 pm #77958DAFsrMIPIMemberWhat about the plugin’s interaction with other sites?
For example, I only have 3 or 4 YouTube videos on my website. Most of the videos are on Vimeo. However, I don’t remember ever having a problem with the YouTube videos.
It may be a coincidence, since I haven’t clicked on them as many times as the others.
You said: “The plugin either works or doesn’t work, 100% of the time.”
But what does “WORK” mean?
The plug in is accessing the video at the Vimeo location like it is suppose to. But sometimes, the video isn’t showing, it’s just black. If there is a problem on the Vimeo end, you can say, well that’s Vimeo.
However, when the same video is embedded directly on the webpage (with out the plugin), it appears to play 100% of the time, no black instead of video.
The plugin may “work, 100% of the time” But it is not functioning properly, if there is no video, just audio.
If it is a problem with the interaction with Vimeo, that is still a problem with the plugin. Since the info on the plugin webpage states:
“This plugin can be used to display images, mp3, mp4, flash, YouTube, Vimeo, Viddler videos in a lightbox popup.”
Although it may be semantics, to me, the plugin is NOT working 100% of the time.
And I’m wondering what the solution might be, which is why I am on this forum.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my problem and trying to help. It is probably a thankless task (well not 100% of the time, since I just thanked you)
I am always amazed at how much can get accomplished when people work together to try and solve something. Unfortunately, I am not that polished in any of these areas, so I am usually the one looking for the help.
Hats off to all those who monitor and participate in this forum, trying to help those of us who need it!
June 12, 2018 at 5:37 pm #77959wzpModeratorYou just mentioned something…
For example, I only have 3 or 4 YouTube videos on my website. Most of the videos are on Vimeo. However, I don’t remember ever having a problem with the YouTube videos.
It may be a coincidence, since I haven’t clicked on them as many times as the others.
That DOES MATTER. You might try redoing your experiment, and keep track of which videos do or do not work. Remember; unless the videos are sitting on your server, they have to take a different path to the viewer, every time they are played.
Also, the presence of ad blockers may or may not affect playback.
June 12, 2018 at 6:12 pm #77960DAFsrMIPIMemberSince I have been keeping track (when I started this thread), the YouTube videos have played 100% of the time.
I have been having this problem for over 4 months. Back when the problem started, I don’t remember if I clicked on the YouTube videos or not.
I do not see this problem when on Chrome or Safari. I know the problem happens while on FireFox. On the computers I have tried (about 7) they have had different versions of FireFox.
About a week ago you replied:
“* Firefox 60.0.1 (64-bit)
* Windows 10 Pro, Version 1803, Build 17134.48
I randomly played 15 seconds from the first 12 videos, and had no difficulties. “
(sorry I don’t know how to highlight the quote the way you did)
One of the computers I tested was Windows 10 Pro, Version 1803 (I didn’t write down the build).
And it was running FireFox 60.0.2 (64-bit)
And the same problem occurred.
I don’t have access to any other computers. I will try and get people I know to take the time to test the videos.
“Also, the presence of ad blockers may or may not affect playback.”
Would the ad blockers be on FireFox?
I don’t have FireFox set-up in anyway special (not that I know).
I understand the developers can’t think of every single situation that could arise.
However, I can’t imagine I am the only one who is seeing this problem.
But if an end user has this happen to them, (and not the person who has the plugin on their site), you may not hear about it.
Thanks again for your input!
