Tagged: download monitor
Hi all,
I’m a regular user of the Download Monitor plugin to manage and track my downloads. This plugin offers various url rewrites to change the download url to various things…like the title of the download, the filename, etc, and most useful, the directory where the physical file exists so it’s hidden from the public. I understand that WP eStore also hides the physical file by giving each download product a unique url, but I would still like to use Download Monitor to manage and track my downloads…but it doesn’t seem to be working.
I have created a download in Download Monitor which allows me to choose a file and give it a title.
The physical address is like:
http://example.com/ebooks/ebook1.pdf
…but with the help of this plugin, the download url to the public looks like this:
http://example.com/downloads/The+Title+of+the+Ebook
I then created a download product in eStore using that rewritten url above and after entering my name and email, I click download and get an error:
Requested File Could Not Be Found
The url looks like this:
http://example.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/download.php?file=2BOa%2FSICVPCSgqzq
I presume that the rewriting between the two plugins is causing the issue and I doubt there is a workaround, but a boy can dream:)
Any thoughts?
p.s. Part of the Download Monitor setup process involves inserting some rewrite rules into my .htaccess file.
Ok, so I think I answered my own question above. In the WP eStore product details I unchecked the “Downloadable” choice under the “Digital Content Details” section. Doing that allowed me to use the Download Monitor rewritten url (http://example.com/downloads/The+Title+of+the+Ebook)….and I’m pretty sure it tracked it as well.
amin007…is there ANY use case you haven’t thought of!!!?? You are a genius!
Glad to hear that you figured it out
