I have membership subscriptions and single donation ‘products’ setup with eStore and eMember, that is all working fine for on the site it seems…
I am wanting to duplicate the Paypal subscription / purchase form from offsite (from another domain I have) and that seems easy enough – I just want to check that I am fine to use the eStore notify URL if coming from a different domain.
eg. [http://example.com/?estore_pp_ipn=process]
I’m guessing it would be fine I just want to check there are no potential security issues in doing this since the originating form referrer will not be example.com?
Thanks.
June 5, 2016 at 12:07 pm #73354wzpModeratorPayPal will “detect” the domain discrepancy. Think of all the mischief/mayhem that would occur if what you were asking was permitted.
I imagine that what you are trying to do, is initiate a purchase on a site; other than your own? If that is the case, simply use a text link, back to your site, to initiate the purchase:

However it does *seem* to accept the values fine anyway, since after some looking around it is apparently possible to use an “external” IPN URL for Paypal transactions, I’m still not entirely sure if the referrer would *definitely* need to match up – as this fact seems to indicate it doesn’t have to… It would be good information to know for certain, might have to test it when I have more time.
The text link method seems to work pretty good anyway, thanks! And I see it will actually work with Affiliate Platform that way too, as was wondering what to do about that…
I’ve had to modify it a little to get what I want… just for future note, it mostly would be a nice feature to be able to specify the “image_url” (Paypal logo field) in eStore so that it is shown on the Paypal site… or perhaps there is a way to do that using the “style” field?
June 18, 2016 at 5:24 am #73356adminKeymasterYou can set your IPN URL to wherever you want really but that doesn’t mean it will get processed by our plugin. Our plugin will validate and verify EVERY single IPN notice it receives. If it finds any kind of issues (if things look dodgy), it will discard the IPN.
So the best way to handle this kind of external site setup is to use the link feature. That way the transaction process will be smooth.
You can use the page style option in eStore to set your PayPal checkout page’s header image. The following tutorial on paypal page style should be helpful:
