I have a WordPress site that is setup on WP 3.0 Networks. My main site is mydomain.com, but I want to have my affiliate program at affiliates.mydomain.com.
However, I just realized that my affiliates links are going to be sending people to affiliates.mydomain.com and not mydomian.com. This is a problem…
Is there a way that I can have the affiliate plugin set up like I have it and (network site) and change it so the affiliate link and tracking is correct?
Thanks
Chirs

“I just realized that my affiliates links are going to be sending people to affiliates.mydomain.com and not mydomian.com.” – Not true. The affiliate links will show up however you configure the target URLs to be when you create the text links or banners.
The main concern is the commission awarding after the payment. Are you using eStore for your product sales? If you are then will eStore be installed on the main domain?
September 12, 2010 at 10:16 pm #24002Ric MMemberSimilar question here…
We have three sites and would like to open affiliate programs for all three together (same market).
Each site in the WP network would have its own domain (through a plugin): Will your affiliate plugin track sales across three sites and report (for admin and for affiliates) where each sale was made?
Thanks

September 13, 2010 at 1:53 am #24003amin007ParticipantWhich site will handle the sales? (all of them?). What are you using to handle the sales?
Each site on a sub-domain or a sub-directory?
September 13, 2010 at 4:01 am #24004Ric MMemberIdeally, it would look like this:
companysite.com is the main corporate site, and http://www.productA.com, and http://www.productB.com would be two individual product sites. All three would be on the same WP Network.
The goal is to let affiliates sign up once (preferably through companysite.com) and be able to sell both products by sending traffic directly to each individual product site (www.productA.com or http://www.productB.com).
Since the products are related and will attract the same affilates, we’d rather not make them sign up twice, and have to manage it from our end through two admin areas.

September 14, 2010 at 1:16 am #24006amin007ParticipantThe domains are completely different so it will be a bit hard to do but it’s possible with some tweaks. If the Multi Site option was used in the same domain (for example sub-domains for each product) then it would have been a bit easier.
September 17, 2010 at 2:11 am #24007marketingwizardMemberI have a similar question and my affiliate center is set up on a subdomain.
– eStore is on a WP blog install at domain.com
– affiliate center is on a WP blog install at – domain.com/affiliates
– Please share any tips, links to specific training, etc as I’d love to get this up and running.
I’ve tried MANY affiliate programs and they are either cost prohibitive, they are “lame”, or they offer no support. From what I’ve seen so far, you offer incredible support, a slick and powerful product and the price is right.
I got eStore up and running and am THRILLED to pieces.
Now I want to integrate the affiliate program.
Looking forward to your support.
Appreciatively,
D’vorah
September 17, 2010 at 8:32 am #24008amin007ParticipantIt doesn’t look like you have installed it on a sub-domain. The following URL looks more like a sub-directory approach to me:
domain.com/affiliates
Do you have another wordpress install in the “affiliates” directory?
Are you using WordPress MultiSite?
September 17, 2010 at 8:12 pm #24009marketingwizardMemberWhoops, yes, sub directory, not sub-domain.
As listed above:
– eStore is on a WP blog install at domain.com
– affiliate center is on a WP blog install at – domain.com/affiliates
HOWEVER, I figured out that I can have
estore and the affiliate center on the MAIN domain just fine.
Is there any reason to have it in a separate directory?
It seems to be running fine from the Main domain HOWEVER….
I was having a LOT of problems with getting the estore to deliver an
email confirmation and link to aweber HOWEVER, due to your excellent
documentation and forum, I was able to figure it out as a configuration
error in PayPal.
I tested the order process and it worked PERFECTLY
UNTIL I tried to purchase via an affiliate link that I set up.
NOW the emails are still going through WITH The product download
code in the EMAIL but when I land on the Thank you Page, the
product download code is no LONGER showing up. – It was before
I added the affiliate plugin.
The affiliate DID get credited for the sale BUT when I
place the order, the download link is no longer showing up
on the thank you page. I did NOT change anything there.
Do I need to click something to get the affiliate plugin and estore
plugin to “connect”?
MUCH thanks,
D’vorah
September 18, 2010 at 2:21 am #24010amin007ParticipantPayPal have changed the behavior of how the payment data gets posted back to your site slightly. More details here:
I have added a new feature in eStore that uses PayPal’s PDF feature to display the download links on the “Thank You” page which is a more robust way of doing this. The documentation has been updated accordingly:
WP eStore – Instant Digital Product Delivery on A Thank You Page
Bottom line…. all of your stuff is working fine as I understand. You just need to use this new PDT option in eStore and then your download links will start to show up in the “Thank You” page too.
If you need an update for the eStore plugin then this link should help:

September 19, 2010 at 2:48 am #24011marketingwizardMemberThanks,
1. I made the adjustments on site #1 and it works perfectly.
HOWEVER my test affiliate is not getting a notice that they made a sell.
how do I set that up.
2. I set up an estore on a second site, using the same paypal account and I am NOT able to see the download link on the order page…..
When I debug this is what I get
FAILURE :IPN validation failed.
[09/19/2010 2:41 AM] – SUCCESS :Paypal class finished.
3. By making the adjustment that you suggest above, which is different from the step by step directions, that are outlined in a different part of this forum,
I am NOT seeing the “click to download” button on PayPal they way you have it set up when we purchase the plugin – but rather I get an auto redirect.
Each site is redirecting to the correct thank you page BUT
site #1 IS showing the download link and Site #2 is NOT showing the download link.
Thank you,
D’vorah
September 19, 2010 at 5:08 am #24012amin007Participant“my test affiliate is not getting a notice that they made a sell” – There is not feature that sends the affiliate an email telling them they made a sale (this feature is on my to do list to be added).
“I am NOT seeing the “click to download” button on PayPal they way you have it set up when we purchase the plugin – but rather I get an auto redirect.” – When you use PDT you automatically get redirected to the “Thank You” page so there is no need to have a button that says “Click to download”. I don’t use PDT on my Tips and Tricks site which is why there is a button.
Do you have the updated version of the plugin installed on the 2nd site?
September 19, 2010 at 5:05 pm #24013marketingwizardMemberThank you!
What do you mean “updated version”? I purchased the affiliate plugin the other day, I assume that is the most current? If not, how do I access the most current version.
I disabled the plugin from the subdirectory and installed it on the main domain so that it would work with the eStore.
I would like to install the affiliate plugin on 1 or 2 other sites, how do I purchase additional licenses?
I cannot figure out WHY the eSTORE is not working on the second site.
It does give the download link in the email but the thank you page does not include the download link, even though I have it configured the same as the first site.
THANK YOU for your support and excellent documentation and forum, very much appreciated.

September 20, 2010 at 1:46 am #24014IvyMemberHi D’vorah, I will send you an email regarding the Affiliate License and we will also need to take a look at what is happening on your site so I will include a site access request.
We just released eStore with PDT (version 4.3.4) about 2 nights ago. I am pretty sure you need an update. The following post will explain more about how updates work:
Please let me know if you do not receive this email.
