how do i use wp-affiliate to give affiliates direct links to different pages on my site. I do events and each event has a different page and i want prospecst to arrive on that page for that event that affiliate is promoting. Any suggestions? Thanks
I tried just adding the code to whatever page i wanted
[http://idetoxholidays.com/current-event/swim-with-dolphins/?ap_id=JoeTest]
instead of
[http://idetoxholidays.com?ap_id=JoeTest]
Will that work?
Also what is the shortcode for the so i can put the unique links in the creatives area already rather than what i currently do which is put in “put your id here” can i make it automatic so users can just log in copy and paste from creatives and i can put the affiliate link in at the admin side.
Thanks
May 20, 2011 at 12:22 am #32678wpCommerceModeratorSimply use XXXX in place of the affiliate ID and the plugin will dynamically insert the affiliate ID there.
May 20, 2011 at 12:26 am #32679amin007ParticipantThis is what the help text of the plugin says:
Use XXXX and the plugin will dynamically insert the affiliate ID there.
What it means is that if you use the following in your creative then when an affiliate logs into his/her account and views the code it will automatically put his/her affiliate ID in place of the “XXXX” so he/she can just do a copy and paste:
http://example.com?ap_id=XXXX
You can link to any of your WordPress page. All you need to do is add the “?ap_id=XXXX” at the end of the URL.
December 2, 2011 at 6:42 am #32680akalliMemberHi,
I’ve recently installed the plugin and during testing the Referral URL was the the website url the click came from. Once I was done testing and was ready to go public with the affiliate program I decided to make sure I had the latest version of the plugin installed. I upgraded and everything seemed OK. Now I notice the any of the referral URLs are always the affiliate link instead of the website url the click came from. I’m not 100% it is because of the new version, but the timing seemed right. Anyway, can you tell me if that what is supposed to be in the referral url now, and not the website url? Or perhaps there’s something I need to go and change now that the software has been upgraded. Does that makes sense?

December 2, 2011 at 9:22 am #32681adminKeymasterThe browser doesn’t always give the actual referral site’s URL (for example if you open the link in a new window or directly enter the affiliate URL). In cases like that (when there is no information available regarding the referral site) the plugin simply uses the landing pages URL. This doesn’t have any bearing in the actual click being tracked or not (your clicks are still tracked).

June 16, 2012 at 7:32 pm #32683yositsitsuMemberI tried the XXXX thing – if I understand correctly this is no longer working. (deprecated?) Am I right?
I use the shortcode [wp_affiliate_referrer] to achieve the same result.
June 17, 2012 at 1:35 am #32684adminKeymasterPlease elaborate where you used the XXXX thing. In the creatives section? I am not sure I understand the relationship between the creatives and the

shortcode.September 6, 2012 at 5:35 am #32685JessicaAMemberHi Guys,
Please change the plugin to say this in full:
What it means is that if you use the following in your creative then when an affiliate logs into his/her account and views the code it will automatically put his/her affiliate ID in place of the “XXXX” so he/she can just do a copy and paste:
Why on earth does it say one thing , but “mean” another?
May have just caused me some Affiliates.
September 7, 2012 at 12:42 am #32686adminKeymasterI am not sure what you mean by “it say one thing but mean another”. Please point out which screen and which text you are referring to so I understand the reference.
December 3, 2013 at 7:38 pm #32687c450.netMemberHas there been any upgrade to the plugin that allows one to create ‘hotlinks’ in the creative that can be copied/pasted into an email? We deal with many elderly that do not understand how to make these and do email marketing. Our affiliates (potential) want to email/facebook their friends but do not understand ‘coding’ This is exactly what the initial inquiry was but there was no definitive answer at the time. We understand how to set up the HTML code to do this but…when an affiliate copies that code and pastes it into an email, the recipient sees that code and not what it means. This confuses them and we lose the opportunity. It works fine in a blog or website, but we really need a way to put that hotlink into an email….Sounds like others have the same issue.

December 3, 2013 at 11:57 pm #32688adminKeymasterUsing the Creatives feature of this plugin is how you can do that. Check the following documentation and you will see how it works (there is a video there):
