Looks like the category description can’t handlle Umlaut / vowel mutation properly.
Would a fix like done for pdfstomper be possible?
Yep I should be able to do something. Can you please do a quick test for me? Use the same word (the one that doesn’t work in the category description) in the product description section of a test product and let me know if that works. So here is what you do… create a test product with some words containing umlaut/vowel in the product description area then place this product on a post or page using the fancy display. Let me know the behavior.
That test did cause no error in product description.
I had used umlaut in product description already.
But just only recently started to use categories too
Thanks for that… I know what to do now. I will modify eStore to parse the category description using UTF-8 which should fix this.
Great. Looking forward to the fix
You should get this option now if you get a new build of eStore from here:
Hi Amin,
How would I be able to fix that for the email? I seem to have a similar issue. Referring to email being sent for free download but I guess it applies to all emails (which I haven’t tested yet).
I hope you can help me out with this one.
Thanks!
What version of the plugin are you using? What to you get in the email? I mean which parts of the email has the character issue? Maybe post a list to your squeeze form page so I can check it out.
I’m using eStore version 5.9.9.7.
Additional question: How can I add line breaks in the body?
Example email test strings in languages/ger.php:
[admin removed characters]
Thank you for the details. In your case, you modified the language files which is fine but you need to make sure that you save the language file in UTF-8 format otherwise you will face the issue that you are seeing.
Please read the following post and it will explain more (pay close attention to the “Note for Non-English Language Users” section):

To add a newline you simply use the newline character n
Thanks a lot! That resolved it.
