That behavior (it sends you to the home page when trying to activate or deactivate a plugin) would be coming from another plugin. Do you have any firewall plugin?
Do the plugin test mentioned here to find out which one is causing this:

October 9, 2012 at 11:34 am #33166famps50MemberHi Guys
I’m having a problem activating the plugin. I have updated to WordPress 3.4.2. and I’m currently using the flexibility 3 theme.
I uploaded the plugin using the WordPress uploader. I have tried to do some troubleshooting unsuccessfully.
When I try to activate the plugin on the plugins page with other active plugins, it goes to just a white screen. and I can no longer access the plugins page in the dashboard.
to try and find where the problem is I deactivated the WP estore plugin then every other plugin on my site. I then tired to active the estore plugin this time, successfully.
I then tried turning on the other plugins I want to use one at a time. Many of the plugins I want to use are in your recommended list.
For example if I try to activate Askimet V 2.5.6 while the estore plugin is acitve – white screen
all in one SEO v 1.6.15.2+ estore =white screen
The list below are all the plugins I have tired to activate with just estore
Contact form 7.0 – V3.3
LoginLockdown – V1.5
QuickChache – V111203
Pubsubhubub – V1.6
Twitterfacebooksocailshare
permalinkfinder v 2.1
I have only recently updated to the new wordpress and i have been having problem installing some plugins with this version. As per your recommendation I tired to install google analytics for wordpress but this caused the same problem. I can use google analyticator with the current wordpress and theme and my plugins.
Hope you can help me sort this out as I really would like to use your estore plugin.
October 9, 2012 at 12:28 pm #33167wzpModeratorI noticed, from reading the description for your theme, that it is not a “pure” theme; in that it also contains some plugin functionality, that may be the source of your conflicts.

Also, the white screen indicates that you may be running out of allocated RAM memory of your hosting account. Check the following post:

October 10, 2012 at 3:33 am #33168famps50MemberIf the theme is the cause of the problem, why does the estore plugin work with this theme when the other plugins are turned off?
I thought that by activating the plugin with the theme I had ruled out a conflict with the theme.
October 10, 2012 at 5:23 am #33169adminKeymasterYou are definitely running out of RAM memory. You need to contact your hosting provider and increase the RAM memory limit on your server.
Basiclaly, you are on the borderline of your allocated RAM memory. As soon as you add the eStore plugin it pushes that limit over and your server kills all the processes. When you deactivate a few other plugin it frees up some RAM memory which is why you can use eStore at that time. see the following post for more replies from other users who faced this kind of issue:
