Hi,
I am receiving the following error when trying to make PDF’s view able with Lightbox Ultimate:
AccessDeniedRequest has expired61641B3A3B1FB1A22012-08-11T18:24:07ZvNNFy4zMNFKnVBUf8cUo3r+1YFANj95ig5HXTxQisLr+aBuKrg+ncMLWKUE0CGit2012-08-12T21:40:15Z
You can view the page at:
http://members.readingcomprehensionlessons.com/lesson-plans/come-on-rain/
I think that it has something to do with the timeout setting, because I checked all pages as I was creating them, and the PDF’s came up, then when I go back an hour later I get the above error. If I hit the update button, then I am able to view the PDF’s again.
The site will be restricted to members, and they will access content through Lightbox Ultimate, so I am not worried about a timeout function. How can I resolve / disable this?
Thanks,
Matt
August 13, 2012 at 12:36 am #48342wpCommerceModeratorHi, This is happening because the generated link is temporary. You can specify this period in the Lightbox Ultimate->Amazon S3 Related Settings.
However, if you are not worried about the security of the content you don’t need to use the protected s3 shortcode. You can simply use a normal shortcode and link to your S3 hosted PDF file. Please note that your PDF file hosted on S3 needs to be set to “Public” (not “private” anymore) if you want to link to the PDF file directly via a shortcode.
August 13, 2012 at 2:48 am #48343mack417MemberHi, Thank you for the reply.
I can’t make the files public, because I do sell them. I have a main site where we sell the content, and we also sell a membership. We moved the members area to a sub domain, so the whole sub domain will be restricted with e-member, but the files are the same files that we sell individually on the main site, so they have to be protected in S3.
Previously I had a protected “Download Now” button in the members area, but the Lightbox Ultimate is a much better way to deliver to members, so I am trying to use that.
I don’t understand why I am having this issue with PDF’s, it seems like the link expiration countdown is starting from the time I hit “update” in wordpress, not the page load, so 3-5 minutes after i hit update, it is timed out. I wouldn’t have an issue if it was 3-5 minutes after page load, but that doesn’t seem to be the case
I have used this plugin with videos and not had a similar problem. Is there an issue with PDF’s that make the functionality different than with videos?
Thanks,
Matt
August 13, 2012 at 11:42 am #48344wpCommerceModeratorwell, the countdown starts from the moment you load the page and you can set the expiry time in the settings. Did you specify a value there?
Do you also have any caching plugin installed?
August 13, 2012 at 12:38 pm #48345mack417MemberI understand what it is supposed to do, it is working with videos, but it is not working properly with PDF’s, that’s why I posted the question.
I have tried leaving the value, and I have also tried removing the value, both give the same result, the countdown to expire seems to start when I press the update button, not at page load.
No, I am not using any cashing plugin.
August 13, 2012 at 10:42 pm #48346wpCommerceModeratorHi, I have sent an email to your registered email address for site access. Let me know if you don’t receive it.
August 14, 2012 at 1:48 am #48347mack417MemberHi- thank you, but I think that I have figured it out. I placed the code into the html editor instead of the visual, and it seems to be working now. I don’t know what difference it made, but it solved the problem.
Thanks again!
