Hi,
My thumbnail photos are displaying poorly in the fancy display. They look just fine when they enlarge though.
Thanks very much,
Carrie

How did you fix the problem as I have this happening with some of my thumbnails.

June 14, 2010 at 1:36 am #21601IvyMemberHi, Using the “Smart Thumbnail” option in the eStore settings menu should fix this problem. This usually happens when the thumbnail image is not square. With the “Smart Thumbnail” feature it will take a square selection of the thumbnail so the image does not smooch or stretch.

Bring your photos into the WordPress media library and use the “smart thumbnail” option.

February 12, 2011 at 11:23 am #21603davemacguitarMemberHowdy
I am using the Thematic theme and eStore and have image distortions (elongated aspect ratios, cut off images) not only in the fancy display mode but with ALL the images that instance within tables and div’s when scaling to fit a required content area.
This problem only occurs with IE and Firefox. The images are already cropped to square.
Is this a broader theme / browser compatibility issue and is there a known fix?
Any insights greatly appreciated and thank you in advance. Shop goes live next week!

1. Are you using the smart image option?
2. Can you please do the following theme test: https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/test-to-identy-a-conflicting-theme-or-plugin
3. Can you send me a link to where this is happening so I can have a look at it.

March 18, 2011 at 6:48 am #21608amin007ParticipantThe smart thumbnail generation library sometimes has problem on some sites specially if your server doesn’t have the fopen functionality enabled. Do you have the permission for the image caching directory correct?
How bad does your thumbnails look if you uncheck the “Smart Thumbnail” option?
March 18, 2011 at 4:37 pm #21609awakenedheartsMemberhad my host fix that problem, but my images still down shop up very well, any suggestion?
March 19, 2011 at 12:59 am #21610amin007ParticipantYour thumbnails are showing fine now. The thumbnail images are never going to be perfect when your image proportions are way out (we are trying to fit a size 18 into a size 10 dress
Your customers can click on the image and see the full image anyway.

March 26, 2011 at 1:40 am #21612katstuffMemberI am having a problem with my thumbnail images displaying all squeezed up in internet explorer, while they work fine in Firefox. I have read through this thread and these are the steps I have taken:
Originally I had uploaded the thumbnail images through FTP and used that URL in the products database. After reading this thread I first activated the smart thumbnail option, which did not solve the problem. Then I uploaded the images through the Media Library, reset the URLS to the new location on a couple of them, and still no difference.
When you look at the page using internet explorer, and ask for properties, you get something like this:
But the properties box states that the width is 15, not 125. If anyone can help me fix this issue I would be greatly appreciative. One of our pages that is doing this is:
http://govaportoday.com/wp/products-2/e-liquids/e-liquids_5ml
Again, this is working just fine in Firefox, but not Internet Explorer. Thanks in advance for your help.
