Hi All,
I’ve clearly missed a step or misunderstood how digital product variation and Digital Product URL works with wp eStore.
The problem I’m having is that emails generated to the seller and customer by the sale of an image file come back as:
‘productname.jpg (variation name) – This product does not have any downloadable content’
The transaction result page also shows this. On attempting to manually create an encrypted link, I can reproduce the error.
To get the encrypted URL to work, I had to go and fill in the ‘Digital Product URL’ field with the variation link appropriate for the product that the customer wanted. This allowed me to then email the customer with links so the actual files could be downloaded. So at least I could get my customer the product that they’ve bought!
I don’t have any problems with the paypal integration, emails get sent and everything seems to work just as the tutorials say, so that’s great.
What I need to know is how to fill out the ‘Digital Product URL’ field so that my customers will get a link to download the variation selected. To explain, I offer two different variations of the same image file; a commercial for profit use and a non-profit use. My customers can choose which one they’d like. If I specify a particular variation in the ‘Digital Product URL’ field (say, the non-profit image file) how would the for-profit file be selected and downloaded if the customer wanted it?
I hope that makes some sense. If I left the ‘Digital Product URL’ field blank, would the digital variation control take over and the encrypted links be shown in the sale email? If so, this isn’t happening for me.
How can I fix this?
March 31, 2011 at 11:13 am #30902axlimagingMemberI’ve just seen a comment on the variation control page:
‘Can the variation control be used for digital delivery of different files, depending on the selection?’
I believe this is my exact problem.
I see another comment that says ‘When you use the “Digital Product Variation” field the plugin doesn’t really care what you put in the “Digital Product URL” field as it will use the URL specified in the variation control.’
So I take it the URL I have in the ‘Digital Product URL’ doesn’t matter as it gets overridden by the digital product variation URL’s, in my case the URL for either the non-profit or profit version of the image file. Is that correct?

Abundance_Triggers_E-Book|Kindle::http://epubusa.com/xxxx|Color_Nook::http://epubusa.com/yyyy|Sony Reader::http://epubusa.com/zzzz|Apple::http://epubusa.com/aaas|Generic::http://epubusa.com/bbbb. I still get that this product does not have any downloadable content.
August 21, 2011 at 5:30 am #30905adminKeymasterDo you have any URL specified in the “Digital File URL” field? Please specify any URL there so the plugin knows that this is a digital product (it doesn’t matter what URL you enter there as it will calculate the variation URL and serve it).
