One of my client has purchased eStore for use on their web site. I see there is a spot to put the tax, but we only need to charge tax (12%) when the person is from Canada.
For PayPal shopping cart buttons, PayPal detects if they are from Canada and applies the tax.
From the documentation, it looks like eStore uses the configuration from PayPal. If I have a item for sale where it is only partially subject to tax, ie a $50 sale where only $10 is taxable, if I set the tax on that product only to 2.40% would it still only charge the ta to Canadians or everyone?
Hi,
PayPal will automatically take care of the tax amount based on the region the buyer is from according to how you have configured your PayPal profile. So there is nothing you really have to worry about as far as eStore is concerned.
For PayPal profile based shipping see this:
Hi Peter,
I think you missed part of my question, maybe I didn’t explain it well.
My question is:
Lets assume I have set up Canadian Tax to be 12% and none for the rest of the world.
If I have a product that is only partially taxable, if I set the product tax amount within eStore to 2.40% would Canadian buyers pay 2.40% tax and the rest of the world none?
Thanks,
Garland
If you use eStore’s product specific tax (not the PayPal profile one) then it will apply that tax (2.4% for this product) to everyone (it won’t differentiate between countries).
