Tagged: pdf expiry
I would love to be able to set an expiry date after which the user could no longer open/access the PDF. The following link provides details about how to implement this: https://slickmedia.co.uk/blog/expire-protected-adobe-pdf/
Any chance this kind of thing could be integrated into the plugin with options for:
Turn on/off
Specify expiry date: Specify a date | x days/weeks/months/years after purchase
Message contents: Allow the user edit text to be displayed. e.g. Sorry this document has now expired. You cannot use this specific document any further. Please contact someone@example.com for an extension. Thanks.
The method described involves injecting Javascript code into the target document. I don’t believe the libraries we currently license for PDF Stamper will allow Javascript to be injected into the file. Another consideration, is whether or not injecting Javascript code into a PDF will result in false malware positives.
Alternatively, you can also integrate PDF Stamper with, or use instead, our eStore plugin; which supports various expiry options for file downloads and “pay per view” access.
