Just wondering if it is possible to add a drop down menu for people to choose if they want to pay for subscriptions monthly or yearly. If so how can I add this option.
March 30, 2010 at 9:23 pm #19256TinkBDMemberHi Sunny – I know that Amin or Ivy will be answering your question when they login later…
I had a similar situation – offering Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual options
I simply created each one as an individual product and then put each one on the page.
Interestingly, I listed them in the order of Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual.
The Annual option is below the fold, but it is the only one that folks have signed up for.

March 30, 2010 at 10:59 pm #19257IvyMemberHi Sunny and Tink, You can not have a drop down menu as Paypal handles subscription payments a little different then normal purchases. I would suggest Tink’s option for this.
Cheers,
Ivy
March 31, 2010 at 3:14 pm #19258sunnydtMemberthanks guys. tink, do all your buttons say “subscribe”. I guess they would all have to right? And then you just put Monthly or Yearly next to them? Also, where can I change the title of the subscribe button. I want it to say order instead.
March 31, 2010 at 8:48 pm #19259sunnydtMemberOk when putting in a subscription amount do you also have to fill in the product price at the top or leave it empty? I ask because I filled in the subscription price and left it empty and now it displays no price at all in the shopping cart once it is added to cart. I need it to add a one time trial fee and then a monthly fee thereafter which is how I have it set up but if the product price is empty there is no price. If the product price is filled in then that is the only total price on the checkout page that shows. If the product price at the top is filled in should this be the trial price or the subscription price?
April 1, 2010 at 12:42 am #19260sunnydtMemberNevermind on the post before this one. I figured out that I have to add a subscription shortcode for that. Can regular purchases can be made along with subscriptions? Like in the same cart and pay together. And can I change the subscribe button to say something else?

No this can not happen as Paypal handles subscription payments differently then normal payments. So the subscription payment can not be added to the shopping cart this button will work more like a buy now button.
In the “Add/Edit” menu of a product you can change the button image you will need to specify a URL to the image you want to use in the Button image URL.

Ivy

April 1, 2010 at 8:29 pm #19264sunnydtMemberIf I have mine set up like this
$129.95 USD for the first month
Then $179.40 USD for each year
Does this mean that they will be charged 129.95 for the first month and then 179.95 starting the next month and each year thereafter? My question is, when does the 179.95 payment begin? If this is not correct, how can I set it up this way so that it will charge 129.95 the first month and then 179.95 the month after and each year after that.
Other than that I think I have it all set now.
April 2, 2010 at 2:15 am #19265wpCommerceModeratorHi sunny, yes you are right. If you put $129.95 USD with 1 month period in the “Trial Billing Section” and $179.40 USD with 1 year period in the “Recurring Billing Section”, it will charge $129 for the first month, after that it will charge you $179.95 instantly at the beginning of the the second month and Recurring Billing Cycle of 1 year will start i.e it will charge $179.95 again 1 year later.

March 3, 2011 at 2:13 pm #19267woodpecker34MemberI have a need to set up quarterly and annual subscriptions relative to a calendar year (ie Apr May June 2010 as second quarter of 2010, Jan thru Dec 2011 or annual 2011) as opposed to only 3 months or 12 months from now.
Is this possible or is it only based on lapsed days and/or months?
Thx
Dave
