A members paypal suscription was paid at the end of their first month, but emember for some reason shows them as “expired”.
I have changed that in emember by putting todays date as the subscription date and setting them to active.
Next month will they show as expired again? Has the link between their paypal subscription and emember been broken?

When you setup a subscription payment using eStore or standard PayPal button simply set the value for the “Subscription Valid for” field to “No Expiry or Until Cancelled”. What this will do is keep them an active member as long as the subscription payment keeps coming every month. The moment they cancel their subscription PayPal will notify the plugin and the plugin will deactivate their account.

Im confused as to why some seem to update but this one hasn’t. A couple of people also cancelled through paypal, and that was updated by the plugin, and the option “No Expiry or Until Cancelled” was not ticked.
So how come its tracking changes at paypal if I need to check that tickbox?

If it’s out by a day or two there will be mismatch and the plugin will deactivate the account. This is why when you use the recurring payment method you don’t need to use the “Subscription Duration” field from the membership level. This field really comes in handy when you are trying to use a “Buy Now” or “Add to Cart” button. Remember, different users will use the plugin for different purpose so I have to cater for different functionality.
As soon as someone cancels a subscription the plugin will deactivate the member account (it’s a safe bet). So by making the Subscription Duration field “No Expiry or Until Canceled” you are telling eMember to not do the additional month to month checking. It will just listen for an unsubscription from PayPal which will be the trigger to deactivate an account.
