I have setup MailChimp with eMember and it’s working fine. But the only issue is that many subscribers do not confirm the double optin email sent by MailChimp.Still, they get from eMember a Username and Password and can access their membership even though they have not confirmed their optin. How can I configure it so that they will not have access until they confirm?

The MailChimp opt-in functionality does not control whether members are added to your eMember list or not.
There are a couple options available if you would like to ensure your members are also subscribed to mailchimp:
1) Uncheck the “Disable Double Opt-In” flag in the eMember configuration settings (which can be found in the Autoresponder Settings page)
This will add your subscribers automatically after they sign up for your membership.
USE AT OWN RISK – because abusing this sort of option can lead to Mailchimp suspending your account.
2) Enable the above flag in point 1) and also enable the “Manually Approve Member Registration” flag in the settings page.
This way you can observe when someone has subscribed to your mailchimp list and then approve their eMembership manually
November 28, 2011 at 3:27 pm #38969robertolitoSpectatorDouble opt in is not my problem. In fact I want them to confirm their registration with the double opt in. My problem is giving access after registration even though they may have decided not to confirm. So, of the two options you provide the one I find appropriate is #2. I will not let them enter the membership area until they confirm with MailChimp, even though this may imply my having to go myself and see who has confirmed and who has not. An ideal integration with Mailchimp would have been that subscribers don’t have access (automatically, not me deciding) if they have not first confirmed with double optin. Perhaps a functionality for next version?
Thanks
December 2, 2011 at 12:32 am #38970robertolitoSpectatorIn any case, can I make a request for a future update that subscriptions become active automatically after the subscriber confirms with autoresponder (Maichimp or any)? This in order to save me from having to check every day if there were any registrations awaiting autoresponder confirmations and approve their account.
Thanks
February 13, 2017 at 6:38 pm #38971slstayMemberJust curious, have there been any updates made between emember and mailchimp that do what robertolito requested above? That’s what I wish would happen as well–that emember doesn’t activate their account until they have double opted-in to mail chimp.
To get around it I have implemented a convoluted free registration process where they first subscribe to my mail chimp list, then they have to double opt-in, then I set the mail chimp double opt-in success page to redirect to my emember registration form page–at which point they can fill out the form and create a free member account. It works, but it’s just a lot of steps for my free members to take. (Not to mention the fact that mailchimp doesn’t pass through their email address into the emember registration form–so there is an opportunity for error where they either mistype their email address in the emember registration form or even enter a different email address altogether.)
