I’m customizing a shopping cart using the said plugin, and now the client wants to be able to have sales tax added in the cart before it gets to paypal… is there a way to add this?
Hi, There is no way to add the sales tax in the cart before it goes to PayPal. This is because this function is handled by PayPal. PayPal adds the sales tax after the customer has left the site and landed on PayPal’s site. What about adding a line of text that says something like: You will be charges 8.5% (whatever the tax rate is) if you live in (whatever state).
Cheers,
Ivy
Thanks Ivy, you just nailed it for me. I KNEW there had to be something in paypal, but it wasn’t showing up in tests. when I looked for it in the paypal account area, I was able to find this page: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_profile-sales-tax and that is where I was able to put the sales tax of the tax nexus state (in this case, CA). Many thanks!
Hi, I am glad this has worked out for you. If you need anything else please let me know.
Cheers,
