MemberHello,
I would like to use Authorize.net with my WP estore. I know where I can set it up in WP eStore but do I also need to purchase an SSL certificate so the transactions are secure and if so, do you have any documentation on how this works as I have never set it up?
Warmest,
Angee

ModeratorThe SSL certificate is independent of any site content; as it is a “server thing.” Your hosting provider should help you install the SSL certificate; as the procedure is host dependent. Simply ask your hosting provider that you want SSL certificate installed and they will point you in the right direction.
Also, unless you are using the eStore Payment Gateway Bundle addon, no sensitive data that requires an SSL certificate is handled by the plugin (PayPal, et al, does it).

MemberSo if I’m using Authorize.net as my payment gateway, do I need to purchase an SSL or do I have to purchase the Payment Gateway Bundle?
Warmest,

MemberYou will need both.
- The SSL ensures that the data which customers submit through your checkout page is secure.
- The payment gateway bundle is the plugin which allows you to link eStore with any of the processors listed.

ModeratorIf you are just using the regular payment gateways that come with eStore (of which Authorize.net is one of them), you do not need an SSL certificate.
You only need the SSL certificate, if you have purchased the Payment Gateway Bundle:

The only reason why you would need the Payment Gateway Bundle is:
- You need a gateway not supported by the regular eStore.
- You want to perform all payment processing on your own server (meaning the user will enter the credit card on your site). That’s why you’d need an SSL certificate to protect your customers card.

MemberHi WZP,
So I’m just using regular old Authorize.net and I don’t need the SSL then if I set this up in WP eStore. Sweet! I’m so glad to hear this.
Warmest,
Angee
