Spam in WP EMember

My client is getting 30 – 50 spam Member Signups a day – they all have usernames that are a stream of letters, like:

tywCrPImSnKgzE
bReThYVXPW
RLdzZqtcwOGIXyuU

Members have to be approved on this site, so they are going into Pending Status, but my client has to go into the site every day and remove tons of pendings…

Is there a way to prevent this kind of spam in your plugin?
