I am trying to set up eMember for product delivery. I created a membership for product 1, I do not have a free membership set up. I have the registration page set up as the return for a buy now product in WP eStore.
When a customer buys product 1, I want them to be returned to the registration page for easy sign up, and not be having to wait for an email. However, if I use an add to cart button, the customer is returned to the home page of the blog, and not the registration page, and if I use a buy now button, the customer is returned to the registration page, but it says there is no free membership set up. Do I need one setup so they can register?
Also, after clicking the link in the email, I am taken to the registration page. I fill in my details and click the Register button, and the page refreshes and says: “The user name you are using is already taken! Please choose a different name.” This is totally wrong, because I can then click the login icon and use the details I just created and login. All this will do is confuse the customer who will continue trying to create a user name and password every time they are told the one they selected is already taken. Is this a bug or is it supposed to do that?
Thanks.

“Why do the customers have to click the special registration link in the email?” – It confirms their email address.
“When a customer buys product 1, I want them to be returned to the registration page” – Did you use the URL of registration page in the eStore’s “Return URL” settings field?
“Also, after clicking the link in the email, I am taken to the registration page. I fill in my details and click the Register button, and the page refreshes and says: “The user name you are using is already taken!” – this definitely shouldn’t happen… from your explanation it looks like the registration hook getting called twice (in the first event it did the registration correctly but the 2nd time the username was already there so it displayed that error). There is something in your WordPress installation that’s malfunctioning and making the form to submit twice even though it was clicked only once (I can look into your site and see what it going on… I will send you an email).

Yes I tried it on one, but it only had the Free in the membership box, so this won’t work. I’m looking for a way to let the customer know what is happening next. I just created a page now telling them to check their email and respond to the link in there, BUT what happens if they don’t get the email? How can they register themselves? Or can they?
I’ll respond to your email.
Thanks.

April 22, 2010 at 1:10 pm #19835MikeMMemberI am going to move emember to the site I actually am going to use it on and see if this problem quits. My only other question before I do testing is if there is a way the customer can be returned form paypal to the registration page with the same details filled in as if they clicked the link they have in the email. My reason for this is in case they don’t get the email, they can still register.
Thanks.

April 22, 2010 at 7:18 pm #19836MikeMMemberOK, I moved emember, and the login part will work, BUT, and this is weird, it wipes out my top menu on the theme in Firefox if I use it. The menu is there in IE. If I delete the register, login, profile, pages, the menu comes back.
Any idea where to look to solve this? Or maybe I’ll just use another theme. I am using The Corporation theme from elegantthemes.com
Thanks.

April 22, 2010 at 11:43 pm #19838MikeMMemberI figured it out. After adding the membership pages, there were too many pages in the menu, causing it to wrap into a second line and screwing up the layout.
